Just wanted to throw out some very disappointing losses in past seasons that actually sort of lit a fire ... so let's hope the UMD loss is a necessary slap in the face, and we turn around and slap Michigan with a real good slap.

2021-22: L 81-65 at Maryland. This one dropped us to 13-5 overall and was our second straight loss (we were also without Kofi). We would win our next four (including wins over #10 Michigan State and #11 Wisconsin) and 9 of our last 12 to win our first Big Ten championship in 17 years!

2020-21: L 66-63 vs. Maryland and L 87-81 vs. #21 Ohio State. Back-to-back home losses dropped us to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in Big Ten play. FWIW, as far as perception went, we went from #12 in the AP Poll to #22. However, we won 7 in a row and 11 of our final 12 regular season games, including 5 top 25 wins and 3 top 10 wins! The final three games of winning at #23 Wisconsin (without Ayo), at #2 Michigan (without Ayo) and at #7 Ohio State (Ayo's return with the mask) will always be legendary to me. Pissed off about Michigan wrongfully being crowned champs, we then plowed through the BTT (beating 2 more top 10 teams!) to hang a banner and get a #1 seed.

2003-04: L 58-54 vs. #24 Purdue and L 70-60 at Northwestern. The loss to Purdue snapped our 30-something game home winning streak, and the loss to a bad NU team dropped us to 10-4 (1-2) and out of the top 25 in Weber's first year. We would win 13 of our final 14 games (including our final 10 in a row!) to win an outright Big Ten championship and eventually reach the Sweet Sixteen.

2001-02: L 88-57 at Indiana, L 78-67 at Ohio State and L 67-61 vs. Michigan State. Three straight losses dropped us from #9 to #21 in the AP Poll and brought our record to 15-7 (4-5). However, we would win our final 8 games in a row to tie for a Big Ten championship and make the Sweet Sixteen.

Still a lot of ball left to be played and plenty of lofty goals that are still achievable. However, the effort/execution vs. Maryland has got to be ancient history, starting with tomorrow night!

I think Mike L is going to make some large nationalšŸ’² before his broadcasting career is over
Or coaching. Mikeā€™s knowledge of the game and his ability to communicate said knowledge is ELITE.

But heā€™s good kind of just chilling right now. I think youā€™re ultimately right though-he is just too good to not use that knowledge at least as an analyst. His call of our game against FDU is just the beginning.

we cook it . . .

and then we serve it to all the other B1G teams so they all know what's coming when the Illini come to their stadium.

i need a glass of a good Cabernet now . . .

typical scUM BS allowing McDaniel to still play home games. If he's being suspended for academic reasons he should be suspended for all games not just away games.
The reasoning I read about the no road play and home play is he is NOT academically ineligible as far as NCAA standards but at scUM they have higher standards that put this action into play............hmmmmm........I guess any reason is better than none for the cowardly program of not playing full seasons at their own decision.......

We need to win and , I mean , win big to further the scUMsters fall from national awareness...........If any program deserves to be embarassed , it's the scUM sucking pondsters from the north.......I say.....................

Um, 3 of your 4 cases had us following up a loss with another loss. I vote "no" on that. šŸ˜‚

things I want to see tomorrow:
DGL getting 10 mins
a little less Goode - he's averaging 33 mpg in league play, and thats too much imo. keep him in the high 20s
if Hansberry is back, give him Dain's mins

here's how I would like the rotation:
Coleman 35 mins
Domask 34 mins
Guerrier 32 mins
Goode 28 mins
Harmon 28 mins
Rodgers 28 mins
DGL 10 mins
Hansberry 5 mins

That Minnesota game that made the tie possible was incredible. I think we were down 9-10 with around minute left. Frank Williams game winner! I lost my voice for a few days after that one. Pretty sure this was the year after Duke had a similar comeback against Maryland.

Werner hit the jackpot bringing Mike and J onto his show. I love every minute of both of those guys!

Oh, don't get me wrong - I 100% agree! However, this optimism is based on my core belief that the loss to Maryland was a pretty big fluke. If that loss doesn't lead to a win at Michigan, I would be forced to conclude that this team's mental toughness and maturity isn't quite where I thought it was and hoped it would be.

+1000

We have been the older, more mature team most of this year. My hope is that Sunday was a fluke.

If we come out weak, making mistakes, or unable to run a good offense without TSJ, I think it spells trouble for the rest of the league play unless we get him back.

Gotta beat these guys. It's already depressing that we have already lost control of our destiny to get even a share of the title.

If Mr. coward is let go after season's end for scUM , Mr. Oates seems to be a viable candidate to lead the scumsters based on his use of force to shove a misery player from a skirmish........he would continue the hands on approach that scUM has established as a requirement for being a leader of young , innocent and naive players for the scUMmers...............

I see you Nate Oates...................I really really do......................

Haven't watched a lick of Michigan basketball this year, but as long as Juwan Howard is still the coach, I'm taking the Illini.

There is no way for Illinois to not get a share of the title if they win out.

It has been 22 years and I still remember sitting on the edge of my couch in the final minutes. After Self called that last timeout you knew Frank was going to win it for us, you knew it was inevitable, and you simply were waiting to see what magic he'd conjure. IIRC he lofted that gem to win it over the outstretched arms of the BT defensive POY.

I loved those days. Also, R.I.P. Billy Packer.

That Vegas line has me nervousā€¦hard not to like us in this spot though. If weā€™re locked in on defense this game is ours. I think Michigan needs a Doug McDaniel 25+ point bonkers performance paired with Terrence Williams hitting at least 3 or 4 from deep to pull this off. I think our depth wears on them throughout the game especially since this is a matchup where we can roll out Dain
