Brad's demeanor in that interview has me feeling he is either real confident this group will get right or just going through the motions until he can reconstruct the roster. Obviously, hoping they will weather this 'storm' and come out firing tomorrow.

I think the effort/rebounding will be there, will the execution? Minnesota while playing better got their teeth kicked in against Sparty and then lost to Washington at home. They then beat Penn State who is straight tire fire right now.

Not to worry. The good Illini are due to show up.
Honestly, keeping in mind this is totally subjective, I would say we haven't seen the "Good Illini" for a FULL game in a while. :( FOTN super serious and scientific rankings since January 1st:

GREAT Illini at Oregon
Good Illini at Washington (sometimes grinding it out is part of the game!)
GREAT Illini vs. Penn State (considering without KJ)
Bad Illini vs. USC (would be awful if not for no KJ)
GREAT Illini at Indiana
Good Illini at Michigan State (overall good, but mistakes cost us a winnable game)
Bad Illini vs. Maryland (only reason I'm not putting awful is the assumption that Maryland was really underrated at this point, plus they own us)
Decent Illini vs. Northwestern (first half good, second half bad)
AWFUL Illini at Nebraska
Decent Illini vs. Ohio State (first half bad, second half good)
Bad Illini at Rutgers (first half awful, second half decent)

So yeah, while they're DEFINITELY due to show up ... I just hope they still exist, lol.

Are we making people sit at practice and games with the flu? Shouldn't they be away from the team? Why do we want this to keep spreading with the players?
Because we’re a team,a family who likes sharing every experience including 😷./s

I can't believe it, but Pomeroy still has us at #17. That's one spot behind Sparty, one ahead of Maryland, and four ahead of Michigan. Go figure.
Numbers don't lie. Color me surprised, too. A certain shade of orange.

As has been discussed, though, the problem is that we have really had a tale of two seasons. Even with the surprise USC loss (without KJ), we still looked like a top 3 seed coming home from East Lansing. Since then, we are 3-5 and haven't looked great doing it. So is our #14 ranking just lagging behind what our "new team" is going to play like from now on?? Certainly hope not!

Minnesota +8.5 …

With likely no DGL … And Tomi not even close to 100% if he plays …

If Morez picks up 2 quick ones … Garcia is going to ABUSE us …

Feel pretty safe at +8.5 …
I grabbed it… I can see it dropping all the way down to 4.5 or so

To put all the if's, analytics, comparisons to past years means absolutely nothing. There is something going on with this squad. How many times have we seen them come out with halfhearted effort in the first half and get buried? How many times have we seen them only play about 15 minutes with all-out effort? How many times have we seen them chuck 3's that clang off the rim and make No effort to get ball inside or drive to the basket? How many times have we seen poor fundamentals like passing and ball handling?
We have seen what this team can do when they are focused. We have seen them not only shoot 3's but make them, we have seen them get out and run against teams, we have seen them play good defense at times. When we see that effort good things happen.
We have seen what happens when all the aforementioned bad things happen. Shoulders slump; heads hang down, everything starts to fall apart.
Somehow Brad needs to retake charge of this team and set Tyler at the other end of the coaching bench and tell him to just observe the rest of the year. Brad is the head coach here; There are just 7 games left in the regular season. Refocus this team like it is a new season, bring new energy, tell them just to go out and play like it is their last game of their career. Be the Head coach that you were hired to be. Be in the huddle at timeouts, take the white board and set up plays, make in game adjustments. Lead this team, tell Boswell to lead this team as the older upperclassman. I believe the talent is there, let it all hang out. You have nothing to lose here. You have put yourself behind the 8 ball, now go break them and put them in the pocket.
Think we got 8 more counting Dukies

I like the way you illustrated this. I get the point you're making but Rutgers is very close to Awful IMO - If you look at our worst points margins so far this year, the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes are the 1st and 4th worst we got beat by for this year. The first 10 minutes of the Rutgers game was by far the worst 10 minutes offensively of the season. In the first and last ten minutes of the game we got outscored 51-24. We can say injuries, sickness etc. but at this point in the year every team is dealing with sickness and injuries.

My prayer is that a Rutgers embarrassment can make way for a Duke stunner in 2 weeks.

Just curious, are insiders allowed to wager?
