You have to look really close. It's a white block I on a white shirt.

Hmmm. Should we be reading anything into that? Faint...literally...praise for the team? Lovie knows how stuff shows up on TV.

Yes, I am reading too much into it.

Tupper's article in the Post-Dispatch today suggests that Lovie try to lose his coolest guy in the room attitude and make an apology to the fans. He gives them no hope and no reason to come back. Since I already paid for my tickets, I come to see the Marching Illini.

I feel terrible for Epstein ... But the future remains very bright for him

What I'm having trouble understanding is why Foster is not playing more in his absence. He was last season's offensive MVP and was on the Doak Watch List heading into this season. Is he somehow in the coaches' dog house now ?

Tre Watson out for knee surgery, significant time. Tony Adams out with shoulder for the rest of the year. Thin line keeps getting thinner.

Just listened to "Monday Morning Quarterbacks" from this past Monday. Let's just say it hasn't helped my confidence for this coming Saturday. Sounds like we have a very angry fan base.

MINN 45
ILL 20

Gophers will easily cover, but George will put up some big passing yardage.

Would love to do a Poll each week asking how many INTs George will through. I say 2 against Minny

335 yards passing. 2 INT's

88 total team yards rushing. 1 fumble

Our defense gets rolled (too many injuries).

Kinda have to feel for this group of seniors, they have been through a lot of coaching changes, drama, etc.

Too bad it has to go down this way for them.

I was wondering the same thing in regards to Foster. I haven't been overly impressed with Bonner and wouldn't mind seeing Foster get some action in the backfield with Epstein out.

I've been wondering the same thing about Foster but when he has had carries this season he has looked awful.

I feel bad for all the players. A lot of adults made a bunch of miscues to put them in this position.

Can we get a little of the basketball karma to leak over to the football side?

Forecast is calling for rain/t-storms throughout the day and getting heavier as the game moves on. Won't help much with the passing game but weird weather can lead to weird outcomes. Prediction: Illinois 6, Gophers 5. Game will feature 21 fumbles.

From my perspective, I was hoping that in the back half of the schedule that this team would be good enough to sneak up on somebody "any given Saturday" and come out with an upset. Losing 3 expected contributors to criminal behavior, and now several key starters to injury has made it feel like a stunning upset isn't even a possibility the remainder of this year. Crouch flaming out as QB is just a terrible outcome, as JGJ just isn't any good.

At this point, I have revised my hopes to include being surprisingly competitive in 2 of the remaining 6 games, escaping without any more major injuries, good developmental time for young players, and 3 major upsets on the recruiting trail.

Next year's schedule sets up better, the young kids start to develop and the Illini scratch out 6 wins.

If there were 21 fumbles I'd think the score would likely be higher, but that said, that would be one hell of an entertaining game to watch! :thumb:

Au contraire, the recovering team would themselves fumble before crossing the goal line. All in all, I would rather see fumbles than penalties.

Not much activity out here, given it's another Football Saturday!

Weather update: Looks like the rain might be light enough (at times) to accommodate our passing game. Just hoping a few of JGJ's passes slip through the wet hands of the MN defenders.
