These are the ones that bother me the most. The upside is that we get an expected win. The downside is a disasterous loss that will put a major, major dent into our hopes of a high seed. We have three games left like this.... Nebraska (2) and Northwestern. The expected outcomes are that we win all of them, semi comfortably and I don't even want to think about the unexpected.

The one upside is that after Friday, the other two games are both at home. It's less likely we have a meltdown at home than get caught with our pants down on the road.

People are talking about playing the bench, and here I am remembering past years where this is exactly the type of game we drop to start a spiral into despair. Granted those teams didn't have Ayo.

Not to be harsh about it, but if they drop a game like this upcoming one, even if on the road, or to NW at home, then it's likely they don't have the team character to last long in March.

Although I'm frustrated that they dropped the OSU and MD games at home because of first-half lassitude, one thing I really like about this season is that the team doesn't need to turn to Ayo when the chips are down, as the season progresses, to pull out a win. We've got depth.

Show up and play with energy and effort the next four games and we have a good shot of going 4-0. We will drop one or two more this year, but hoping those come against a top tier team. I think everyone would be happy with 15-5, 16-4 is also possible.

Good litmus test here to determine if we can continue to play with effort for a full 40 minutes. Easy to put your best on the court when you're playing high competition. I could see this game being annoyingly close if they dont play like they have the past few games.

That being said, this Nebraska team has zero identity on offense. Hard to see them being able to keep up with us.

They haven't even played a game against Iowa, IL or OSU so far. And they lost to Minnesota. I'm not sold on them as being best team in B10, and the B10 shouldn't be sold on it either.
Agree. They will lose at least a few games abs this hand wringing becomes academic. Unless we slip up and lose a few more too, in which case we wont really deserve a title abs shouldn’t gripe about not getting a title with 6 losses

Ballpark, how much do we need to win by to keep our Net ranking where it is? I understand that the ranking doesn't directly look at margin of victory, but it does seem to look at it indirectly, through points per possession on the offensive and defensive side. If so, and assuming an uptempo game, do we need to win by 20 or so?
NET isn't exactly the same as KenPom but it's close, and KenPom projects a 15 point game at Nebraska right now. That seems about right. NET will only see this as a Quad 3 game, which won't look good as a loss.

I honestly could see us scoring 90 against them. I'll say:

Illini - 90
Nebby - 73

Bob Swerski: Okay, some predictions from the sports fans on Friday’s game. Pat?
Pat Arnold: Illini, one forty-nine to twenty-tree.
Bob Swerski: Carl?
Carl Wollarski: Illini, one forty-nine to fifty-two.
Bob Swerski: Okay, some difference in opinion there between you guys. Todd?
Todd O’Conner: Illini, four hundred and two to zip!
Bob Swerski: Okay! Real good!
Todd O’Conner: But, Ayo Dosunmu will be held to under two-hundred points.
Bob Swerski: Todd, one-hundred thirty-eight points is the record.
Todd O’Conner: “Was”.
Superfans: Da Illini!

I see now that it’s almost time for the foregone conclusion that is Fridays game. What if the Illini were all 14 inches tall? Now, what’s your predicted score for the mini-Illini?
