I like our chances with Bret Bielema going up against "Mr 48 yr old Brings Baseball Mitt to World Series Game"
Here he is at an earlier age:

For kicks and giggles, here's the current football-and-basketball streaks we have going against our B1G foes. These are streaks that are continuous through both basketball and football seasons.

Nebraska +6 (2 Football, 4 Basketball)
Michigan +5 (0/5)
Minnesota +5 (2/3)
Northwestern +5 (1/4)
Penn State +4 (1/3)
Iowa +3 (1/2)
Wisconsin +2 (1/1)
Michigan State +2 (1/1)
Ohio State -1 (0/-1)
Rutgers -1 (0/-1)
Maryland -1 (0/-1)
Indiana -2 (-1/-1)
Purdue -3 (-1/-2)

Pretty sure we’ve won 5 straight vs Iowa in basketball. Last time we lost to them Andres Feliz led us with 17 pts.

Our o-line is going to be fired up to have McCray back. And Chase Brown is going to be very thankful to have him back too, so he doesn't have to touch it 40 times.

I keep waiting for the let down game, but at this point I don't think it's coming. Bielema has everyone bought in, Walters has this D playing with a giant chip on it's shoulder every week, and Lunney/TDV are getting better each week.

This is going to be one of those game where by the middle of the 3rd quarter everyone is saying "Stop! Stop! They're already dead!". Chase and Josh, both individually, will have more yards than the entire Nebraska offense.

Agreed and its scary to think if our red zone offense get just a bit more effective at scoring touchdowns instead of just adding on FGs we'll start winning games rather comfortably.

Nice!! 2:30 pm on ABC is true ratings gold ... we'll see just how much of a draw the Illini can be here, IMO. Yes, Nebraska draws great ratings, but...

1) I think it will be ever-so-slightly diluted by the disappointing season they're having, though not by that much.
2) We will still be able to tell if an Illini/Nebraska game sees any drop-off from other bigtime games Nebraska has played in. For example, they drew 3.41 million for a "Big Noon Kickoff" game vs. a (then) top 10 Oklahoma squad a few weeks back.

It's nice to finally get the recognition and hopefully leave BTN's 11:00 am "Breakfast with the Illini!" in the dust.

The Cornhuskers identity is very fragile right now. Many Husker fans are still in mourning at what has happened to their once proud program. And a few have even fallen away from the program due to disappointment and frustration.

The Huskers right now are trying hard to separate themselves from the toxic Frost era. There’s a more positive vibe on the team and in the program now that Frost is out. With each game the Huskers are trying to find their way back to respectability.

For Husker fans, every game now is a big one. Not necessarily that they can make a bowl or make a significant rise in the standings... but in getting back to a feeling of what they once were.

For the Illini, things are just as big in this upcoming game. The Illini want to stay on a roll and continue to establish that winning culture. And of course, the Illini have designs on a Division title.

In other words... this is going to be a really big game for the identity of both programs. It is going to help establish momentum for the winning side... and a bit of doubt for the losing side.

And a National TV audience is a great place to show the Nation what Illini football is becoming.

Lincoln on game day is a Sea of Red. That gets the home team fired up... but also can get the opponents fired up as well.

Nebraska is filled with good-Earth people that love their Huskers like family. And so is the Prairie State.

It will be fun to see that Sea of Red turn a bit Orange out in the Great Plains.

^ Can someone remind me how the Notre Dame/NBC thing works? It'd be really nice for us if Notre Dame/Syracuse - a matchup that the media, especially East Coasters, will try to shove down our throats - could be on NBC and not take up a slot that we could have.

NBC gets Notre Dame home games and when a game is on a neutral field, but Notre Dame is considered the home team, I believe.

Notre Dame's contract has always been with NBC. I'm not aware that it has changed. NBC trucks at the stadium every game.

I personally grown to like the "Breakfast with the Illini" game time. I'm in the MT time zone ( and used to be in Alaska) and that early game time for me is nice. Game gets over by 1pm (11am in AK) and I've got the rest of the day to tackle DIY projects. Later times mean I won't get anything accomplished on Saturdays! Lol
