I sure hope you are right about being hungry for revenge...and not thinking "we gotta go climb this mountain again?" which is easy to grasp this time of the season. This is not Nov. where they are like a bull that can't wait for that gate to open so the energy can be released. This is the late Jan./Feb. college hoops grind when energy is sometimes hard to find. In spite of there being every reason to look forward to this game, every reason to want to win, every reason to want to play your best....there are often uncontrollable reasons that keep 18-23 y/o kids from doing what they want and know they need to do. At least that is what I have seen during my 70 yrs. as a player and fan of the game. This team seems to be a bit different though....we will see on Sunday.

If anyone that's not named Illinois has to win the conference. I'd like it to be Nebraska. I've always liked Hoiberg even when he coached the Bulls.

Nebby shot 46% from deep and 52% overall last time around. Jake, Drej, Mirk and Ben are going to need to be closing out hard and not ball watching.

Going to need to work on fighting through double screens and hard hedges. The five out, pace and space gave us a lot of trouble last time around.

I think their weakness is in their ball handling. They really only have a few guys who can get their own shot off the dribble. If we can hard hedge Hoiberg and Lawrence and have good defensive rotations, we will fare better. Force Pryce Buyuktuncel or Mast to drive the ball and our length will give them problems.
Somebody staying within arms length of Sandfort all night might be a good place to start. We are not the only team he has shot the lights out against.

This the same dude who had to leave the message board for a few weeks because people were hurting his feelings? 😂😂 All he’s done the last couple months is get on here and make fun of the fans. Tough guy
Yeah. No one left because their feelings were hurt. The board got so idiotic it was ridiculous….now I’m just highlighting the idiots. Feel free to join them.

The Illini will roll through the Shuckers like a shiny new 2026 Massey Ferguson combine through a ripe plot of field corn. The Illini by 10, pulling away at the end.

Uh...kinda nit picking here....but that's a bean field.....but beans need to be harvested just like corn.....let's just hope there's no complications to the harvest...I L L....

During this current win streak, we've beaten:

PSU which is roughly equivalent to a 15 seed
Missouri which is 11ish
Iowa which is currently projected as an 8
Purdue which is currently projected as a 3

All away from home. All without a slip up in between.

Very similar to the 15 > 7/10 > 3 path a 2 seed would have.

Nebraska is currently projected as a 2 in most places. But I'm going make them a 1 in my imaginary bracket to make this analogy work.

This is the Elite Eight matchup. Win and we'll advance to the Final Four to take on an MSU team who upset a 1 seed to get there.

We played Mizzou after Nebraska, not Tennessee.

Before Tennessee was UConn (which is why you see the negative comments).
Yeah getting old. Lol. But besides the nebbu error all hold up

I think the the key is gonna be Tomi. With the added defense emphasis that Keaton will see the rest of the year the pick and pop for Tomi will be there just like last night. We need to not let Hoiberg dribble through our defense and find Sandefort open on the 3 point line. I have a feeling Andrej is gonna break out of his mini 2 game slump. I’m predicting good guys 79-78 in a wild one
Nah, we break 80. 82-81

I've seen some match up zones that crowd the perimeter.i like to see some of this tommorow and have Nebraska beat us from the inside.

Need to improve on these from game 1.

1. Can't allow them to shoot 46 5% from 3
2. Can't allow 34 inside points. Need more Z
3. Need better rebounding differential. Only outrebounded them by 4.

Push them off the 3pt line....funnel to Z waiting at the rim.

I think the key for the game will be rebounding and free throw shooting. If we can be +10 on the boards, and shoot 90% from the FT line, I think we can pull off the upset. The 3PT defense has to be at least marginally better. Even a 35% rate from Nebraska wouldn't kill us. 46% can't happen.

(assuming Mast plays) Z will be out on the perimeter quite often, not waiting at the rim

Just one of the things that makes them (and us, for that matter) so difficult to defend

Beating them whether they are at full strength or not will be big enough. I don’t care if they are at full strength that’s not our problem. I want to win. Don’t care who is or who isn’t playing for them.
