Any recommendations on where to buy tickets for this game. Contemplating bringing the small kiddos so probably somewhere near plentiful concessions and bathrooms

Kind of funny that when you look at Northwestern's ticket website, these are the breakdowns of the sections on the main stands on both sides:

Northwestern (15): 3 sold out, 7 low availability, 3 medium, 2 high
Illinois (13): 6 sold out, 4 low availability, 2 medium, 1 high

Hopefully that means there is a lot of orange and blue in the house!

This NU team had relatively competitive games (based on the scores) against tOSU and PSU. They are playing their in state rivals in their last game for the Land of Lincoln trophy. I'm not sure it will be a cake walk, but believe the O&B will TCOB. Will be there to help the illini vastly outnumber the home crowd.

Good for you, hope more join! I am bummed we will not make it back to Chicagoland in time to go to this one, but I will be doing my part painting Welsh-Ryan Arena orange once again in January!

EDIT: Speaking of, I just checked on NU's website for basketball tickets, and the entire "Illini side" is sold out, with the only remaining availability being a few seats behind each basket and the upper deck of the NU side. It's their only game that appears even REMOTELY close to a sellout, and prices are $25 more per seat. :ROFLMAO: Gonna be another home away from home for the Illini!

I and 2 other alums will be at Ryan Field on Saturday. I am expecting the Illinois fans to outnumber the Northwestern fans. (Only 3 tickets left for the Evanston Illini vs Northwestern basketball game)

I have a bad feeling about this one.
- We were favored over Michigan St. by 17 - but the underdog won outright.
- We were favored by 7 over Purdue - but the underdog won outright.
- We were 17 point underdogs at Michigan - and came within 9 seconds of winning outright as the dog.

Vegas does not seem to know us very well.........

Anyone been to Ryan Field before with parking recommendations?

Anyone ever bought a parking pass at NW in one of their lots east or west of the stadium? (Would be their version of Lot 31, sort of). I bought one this week and got this email from the seller:

Thank you for purchasing my parking pass. As a reminder, NU as a strict policy concerning visiting teams tailgating in the West and East Lots. NU does not allow visiting team fans to display any flags, banners, awnings, etc. in the West Lot. You are welcome to tailgate but please adhere to this as they will ask you to leave and will cancel my parking privileges.

I had no idea I would visiting an area held by the Taliban, where scandalous free speech like an Illini flag would cause me to be deported away from the stadium. Anyone know if this is real, or just an overzealous guy wearing purple with a life size poster of Fitzy on his basement bedroom wall?

He shouldn't have sold you his parking pass. I'm sure you'll go full Orange.

Here's my dream: everything breaks right this weekend and we win the west. Michigan beats O$U and we get a second shot at scUM in the championship game, but we win this time, dashing scUM playoff hopes. Too much to wish for?

I have no factual information, but my guess would be #2. Doesn’t want it getting around to his fellow NW ticket holders / tailgaters that he is selling to the enemy. Put it this way: if I were a pass holder, and this were true, I would not risk losing my pass over this. Of course a visitor will display their own colors.

I haven't attended a game at Dyche Stadium/Ryan Field in decades. Am wondering, however, regarding the nasty parking sitch there that others have described, about the practicality of parking somewhere south along the El toward the city and then taking the El to Central, which is a mere ~ 10 min walk to the stadium. Anyone have experience with that tactic?

Honestly, Nebraska beating Iowa seems the least likely ... I think we come out rejuvenated with how we played at Michigan and beat Northwestern methodically. I also think that if Indiana plays like they did against MSU, anything is possible in a rivalry game at home. Purdue has also shown the capacity to not show up (see Iowa loss). However ... it seriously seems like the Iowa football program owns Nebraska in a way that is practically like being in their heads. :ROFLMAO:

2021: #16 Iowa 28, Nebraska 21 in Lincoln (UNL up 21-6 before collapsing in the fourth quarter and giving up a TD with 2:58 left to lose)
2020: #24 Iowa 26, Nebraska 20 in Iowa City
2019: #17 Iowa 27, Nebraska 24 in Lincoln (Iowa game-winning FG with :01 left)
2018: Iowa 31, Nebraska 28 in Iowa City (Iowa game-winning field goal as time expires)
2017: Iowa 56, Nebraska 14 in Lincoln (game tied 14-14 at half before a complete UNL self-destruction)
2016: Iowa 40, #17 Nebraska 10 in Iowa City (costs UNL a chance at winning the West)
2015: #4 Iowa 28, Nebraska 20 in Lincoln (4-point game with 6:43 left before UNL gave up a 68-yard TD run)

I'll be rooting hard for ole Nebby, but I unfortunately have next to zero faith they can march into Iowa City and win, haha.
Nebraska did get a big win to set the basketball team up for a conference title. So there is that.

To follow up on my own question, I talked to a nice lady at the NW ticket office. She said that this is, in fact a rule, because "they get abused by fans from other schools being in their donor lot. You wouldn't like it if other fans parked in your lots in Champaign and had their school colors out." I told her I parked in our version of the west lot (31) and we indeed did have opposing fans at every game in the lot. Makes for some fun pregame talk! She said that she is not sure they are enforcing it now, but in the past the team bus used to pull up by the west lot and it was embarrassing to have so many opposing fans there. Now the bus sneaks in another way.

Honestly, it doesn't matter that much, but talk about a bunch of crybabies. The "I'm not sure they enforce it" pretty much guarantees I will have my Illini flag up!

Holy cow that's some thin-skinned stuff there.

Back in 1994 the Illinois Alumni Association hosted a tailgate party just East of Dyche Stadium. It was huge tent literally right next to the stadium. I attended with my Dad and was stunned the gave the opposing team such a prime location. My Dad said if we were not here, it would be empty.

Then in 1995, they had their "breakout" season. When the Illini returned in 1996 they forced us over to the golf course for our Alumni function. Apparently, it was not a good look having their opponents in their main lot.

I expect a lot of orange and blue in Evanston on Saturday.

Go Illini!

I remember talking to Teddy Greenstein once in Greektown Chicago (former Trib writer and NW alum). He told me the Illini would never have good football and I told him then as I’ve always believed - with the right coach you can win almost anywhere and Illinois while down has all of the resources to do so. He was rather condescending about it with Fitz doing well at the time.

With that said I want to see us absolutely destroy them.
