ND is also not good.
ND is one of those teams that gets everyone's best shot. And they withstand it. And they are undefeated. It would be wonderful for the Illini if they were just as not good as those here claim.

Epstein and Dudek's legacy will live forever.
Seems that something strange is going on with Epstein. Bielema has been very vague about his "injury" and possible return. Makes one wonder if there is something non-physical at play.

We will very likely lose this game. Our best shot at a second win will be versus Charlotte the following week.

Our 3rd and final win will come over Northwestern.
I have no idea whether any of this is true but I like the way you think regarding beating NW. Also, if you do have some way of controlling the future, could you pretty please make our second win come against Iowa?

A win over Iowa is in our future, but sadly it will not be this season.

I get your frustration, but we must stay logical. We all knew that where we were last year was NOT good enough, and that wasn’t going to change immediately. The sad truth is we need a few new recruiting classes in.
People spent 5 years defending Lovie here and now we don't have enough to win from his 5 years of recruiting? I don't think BB should be blamed yet but why did people defend Lovie if things are so awful now?

Good question. I think that should also be asked of Bielema's recruiting so far. When I had said that recruiting so far has been disappointing for a new coach, I was essentially told that the pandemic affected only Illinois' recruiting.

Also, not everyone was defending Lovie when he was here.

Oy. I've sworn off the orange Kool-Aid this week. 12 step program and all.

I think the Illini can win this game. But too many things have to go exceptionally well for them to win on the road.

Purdue 27
Illinois 21

Can we get this version of BP for Purdue?

you have to have time to throw.

I am tired of wasting my time and money on this program only to be pissed off and disappointed year after year. Michigan State, Indiana, Minnesota are winning, why not us?

Mainly because we've had now 15 different head coaches since Ray Eliot retired in 59 (?). Only 2 had winning records, and NONE were here long enough to really build a 'program'... And we've had 5 or 6 AD's who have mainly all made bad decisions in their selection and hiring process.

Weirdest thing we learned is that Freshman LB Kenneth Odeluga is expected to play more. I need to look at a depth chart cuz idk how expected this is, but considering we flipped him from PennU I can’t imagine very.

Good question, I suppose, and I think one group is/was clearly wrong. I’m thinking AND hoping it was the folks defending Lovie.

The inescapable truth at the end of the day is it almost takes a serious uptick in recruiting to start to turn a program around. Looking back, we obviously weren’t seeing that with Lovie … can only hope we do with Bret.

Can someone explain how Shammond Cooper couldn't find playing time at ILB and was kicked outside to OLB instead? He really couldn't beat out former walk-ons and a low 3 star true freshman?
