Season 8 Group GIF by THE NEXT STEP

I’m right there with you. Coming into the season I wanted 7-8 wins.

But, we’re ranked in the mid-80s in returning production from last year. While we retained some pieces (like Newton and Randolph), we also lost a lot.

We lost our entire secondary, our running back, our quarterback.

Last year, DeVito had 5 interceptions all season. Luke has 7 in the first 4 games of this season.

Last year our stud secondary averaged 1.8 interceptions per game. This year’s secondary has 3 interceptions through 4 games.

This team simply isn’t as good as last years.

While 6 wins might be a step back compared to last year. For the past 30 years every good season has been followed by a 5 win season. So 6 wins this year can break the curse and retain program momentum heading into the off-season.
We lose a lot of production after this year too, as does every team every year. I'm hoping we don't take another step back

I hope we beat Purdue in a back and forth game where we go up two scores late in the fourth.

That’s the nature of college football. There’s much less equilibrium with a steady flux of people and rapid talent development. He who can’t continuously recruit and develop young athletes is lost.

The team that finishes each season isn’t the same as one that starts it, so it’s tough to predict late games based on early ones. Changes are continuous, much more so than among the pros.

Illinois has a good chance to win if Lunney doesn't attempt to run the ball until they get behind.

Purdue knows Couch B, very well......Purdue looking at tapes of FAU, noting weakness with the special touch of Ryan Walters inside info.....
Bielema on the other hand has no access to any Purdue tapes and knows nothing about Purdue’s coaching staff. Right there you know it’s a Purdue blowout.
