Ok fellas we have some time to kill. Lifelong illini fan here bringing my son to his first illini game on Sunday. He already bleeds orange and I want to make this experience unforgettable for him. Suggestions on best places to eat and anything that is a must see or do. I apologize if I should have posted in a different forum. Go Illini! Smash Purdue!
Billy Barooz is one of our go-to's. Take him down to the hall of fame at the stadium. It's not huge but cool little illini shrine. It's free also which is a perk

@Pru, my thoughts range from envy and admiration to sheer wonder and consternation at how and when you will arise on Wednesday.

Just some other kind of wrinkle would be nice when we really need it to get turnovers or when we have bad mismatches. But that's why I'm not a coach.
That's what Curbelo is doing now...getting more time each game.

I'll arise great if we win .....if we lose I will put on a pot of coffee @ midnight and lament the loss until NL # 3 drags me to bed flailing my arms and weeping like no tomorrow........

If you have time and the weather isn't foul, take him on a walk to the quad, drop into Lincoln Hall, and have him rub Abe's nose on the bust upstairs outside the theater for good luck. He may get a kick out of that, it won't hurt our game chances, and you'll introduce him to a bit of Illini tradition. ;):illinois:

On my first campus visit (as part of a high school's prospective students field trip), a few of us broke off from the main group and happened upon an open beer truck delivering to Mabel's. I can neither confirm nor deny that the delivery person was short 3 cases of Little Kings that afternoon.

I'm not suggesting a new tradition...but we were held in high regard by our peers upon our return. When I "confessed" years later on a particularly saucy night at Mabel's...we received more free beer.....and many high fives.

I mean as far as eats, Papa Del's seems like a go to for pregame food and Original House for breakfast the next day? May even see staff and a certain recruit there...? My dad got me hooked early during the great late 70's and early 80's years and we still either watch every game together or talk throughout the game. Hope you and your son have a great weekend!
