Tbh I think Stefanovic getting hot from 3 (and hitting some really difficult ones) is probably the biggest reason we lost that game. Edey killed us early in the game but Stefanovic was the difference down the stretch.

This. We withstood Purdue’s big men. We did NOT cover Stefanovic well on the 3 point line, and he got too many looks. Purdue stinks enough defensively that our O should be fine; we need to need to need to have our best defense for all 40 minutes.

So, does the team come back to Champaign today and head to WL Monday or do we just chill in the Indy area until then?

I think the Illini can afford to lose this one now. I don't prefer it or even expect it. But today's win provides a nice buffer in my mind.

Beating a top 5 team on the road is a gravy opportunity, every time.
How so??....We would both have 3 conference loses with Purdue holding the tie breaker

You don't know that. You try to win every game. If Purdue beats us and runs the table, they win the Conference.

Obviously it doesn't matter what you and I think, but from the coaches and players' perspective, you gotta win every game.

Here's hoping BU is in their ears about it before the game. It's easy enough to point out what happened last time, plus the call on his elbow today
Yeah, I mentioned this before: If I was the coach, I’d have an Edey elbow clip reel on an iPad - maybe just place it up at my end of the scorer’s table on a continuous loop so the refs can see it every time they pass by.

Reason #942 why I shouldn’t be the coach…

But why you should be seated just behind the scorer's table....😁

Yeah, I think the refs are wise to this now. On one hand I get the kid is 7’4” and we of all fanbases know a big player shouldn’t be punished for being big, but it’s been getting out of control

Not so sure "buffer" is the right word, when a loss gives Purdue the tie-breaker in the season series, in the event we end up in a dead heat.

It's really hard to look at Purdue's remaining schedule and be able to point to a more likely game that they'll lose ---- beyond this Tuesday. You'd probably have to root for AT Wisconsin and AT MSU.

I'm starting to think the regular season champ may have 3 losses. 4 could get you a tie.

Pressure really bothered Purdue today. Would love to see us mix some in.
On offense.. I think every time Kofi gets ball in post against Edey... he can slip a pass around Edey for a cutter layup. Edeys arms are almost always high on D.

On D against Edey,.. I think our guards have got to swipe at dribbling Edey when he is backing/dribbling in the post.

Also, as others say....don't let Stefanovic (or Ivey) go off.

Guessing it will come down to 3 pt shooting with Kofi/Edey offsetting.
I instead think it will come down to the inside game. It's pretty much 1 (Kofi) vs 2 (Williams/Edey). Advantage Purdue with ten fouls to give.

Painter took advantage of that from the outset in game 1. He had a mission of putting Kofi in foul trouble early, and went down low 10 of the first 12 possessions. I thought it was fantastic coaching. How is BU going to adjust in the rematch?

Still love being the underdog in this one!
