The line doesn't seem terribly inaccurate.

I believe I heard during the broadcast that Illinois has now started 2-0 in four of the last five years. Hence, a 2-0 start against Ball State and Western Kentucky "does not a successful season make."

As much as I wasn't impressed by WKU their first week, I've been even less impressed with USF their first two weeks. Although a road game makes a big difference.

Will be a weird game for USF, no matter what happens with location. Lots of distractions and emotions.

my god 15 is SO high. That'll change as the week progresses. Especially if plays/location of the game change.

That's fair, I'm just looking at a team that didn't get a chance to play a game this weekend, will be affected by Irma (physically, mentally, or both) and didn't look great to start their week 1 game. It'll be an interesting game if it happens.

Had a blast watching last night's game and thought the D player really well, but USF is probably the third best team on the schedule. Especially if it's in Tampa, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the game where the hammer really drops, especially vs a mobile Flowers.

good place to get updated depth chart?

Anyone have a favorite site from which to get a depth chart that gets updated from week to week?

With Irma moving more inland and weakening throughout the day and night, I don't think Tampa was hit like they thought it could be. I bet the game will be played Friday night in Tampa as scheduled.

I hope you are correct, ritster.

It really did weaken really quickly, didn't it. Also, the slight course shift was enough to spare Tampa major damage as well.

I'll be curious now what the decision will be regarding this game.

Living in Tampa, I wouldn't be surprised either way if this game gets played. I'm still in the city and bunkering down for a rough night. I hope this game gets played, I've been looking forward to it for over a year.
IlliniRun -- hope you survived the storm!

if you hear any early rumors about the game or venue, let me know. I'm still planning to be there all weekend for the Illini/Bears games. I'm not seeing much in the way of updates so far.

So radar shows that it has passed through Tampa. Any Tampa area floridians with updates on how bad it was compared to expectations?

Saw that Ball State put up 51 points and beat UAB by 20 last weekend. I know each match up is different and UAB is terrible just glad to see opponents we beat play well....

Spread is now USF -17

This is kind of insane. I know Vegas is liberal with their college spreads, but this is a bit much. USF only beat STONY BROOK by 14. Even though our wins aren't too strong, our team is trending in the right direction and should be getting better with experience each week. If I were a betting man with money I would put a lot down on us to be well within 17.

Remember that USF has a little number in front of their name. And we are Illinois.

I actually like the humbling spread. Sounds like Lovie uses that sort of thing to fire up the team. It appears to have worked against WKU.

#Illini, S. Florida still talking about Friday night's game. Sounds like main issue is power in Tampa, but they don't want to move game.

Lovie Smith's Tampa home survived; #Illini hotel still standing; damage in Tampa was less than once feared.

Lovie Smith previews USF

Note- still no official word on if game will move locations or keep original schedule

Lovie: We knew WKU would be a big game for us. To be underdogs at home, you have to stand up to that. Our guys did. Took it to heart

Lovie: 12 true freshmen have "significant role" on our football team.

Lovie: Offensively, we left some plays out there, but when we needed to make plays, we did.

Lovie: Mike Epstein continues to be Mike Epstein. That's how he's been since he's been on campus.

Lovie: One of our goals was to start the season 3-0. We have a chance to do that.

Lovie: Hopefully before long, we'll get Jaylen Dunlap back. That will help a lot

Lovie: Charlie Strong does a great job.

Lovie: Right now, we have a game Friday night. Nothing has changed. We're prepared as we always have been.

Lovie: I don't think Tampa was hit as hard as anticipated. We plan on getting on the plane on Thursday and playing Friday.

Lovie: I think everybody (of players' families in Florida) came out as well as can be expected.

Lovie: We play young guys. "That's a recruiting spiel, so make sure you get that out there."

Lovie: Play people that can help us on all downs. Roundtree and Gay have held up against the run.

Lovie: Watson has to lower the target. Hope that situation doesn't come often.

Lovie: As defensive players lower target, probably will see more lower-body injuries.

Lovie: We have great students. We feed off their energy. Fans will continue to come more as we have success.

Lovie: Blake Hayes has impressed.

Lovie: Felt good about the OL. We had protection most of the time.

Lovie: Quinton Flowers biggest challenge. "He can do it all."

Lovie: We're playing a ranked opponent. That's a good football team.

Lovie: You need to go on the road and win. That's the next step for our program.

Lovie on going back to coach in Raymond James Stadium: I'm not one of those touchy feely guys

Lovie: "Everybody who wanted to see me (in TB) before could've seen me before now."

Lovie on awkward feelings with Bucs: About Illinois football right now.

Weather report: Mostly sunny with highs in the 80s for the rest of the week. On Friday, high 88/low 75 with 50% chance of storms (icon show lightning). Looks like no way for Jose. You can be sure that power will be turned back on and enough of the campus and facilities will be clear.

The game will be in Florida on Friday.

Weatherbug forecast.
