I wonder if playing in an NFL stadium increases the odds we will be able to play the game?

Also, I thought I heard Orlando got it much worse than Tampa did.

The facilities probably won't be an issue, but their team has got to practice to play this week--that's probably a bigger issue.

Then they wouldn't want to play anywhere.

That's probably true. Classes were cancelled through Tuesday. I'm sure they want to play, but just missing one day of practice on a shortened week puts them at a disadvantage. Perhaps they practiced today, but I haven't seen any info and it's got to be hard to focus. Some of those guys probably have families in areas that were hit hard.

Perhaps playing on Saturday could be an easy fix to this scenario? Crazy idea, I know. If the infrastructure is okay and USF just needs an extra day of practice, playing Saturday solves the main issue.

They need Saturday to transition to the Sunday Bucs game against the Bears.

USF Game

I have tickets for the game and was flying down Wednesday. All Southwest flights are canceled for Wednesday and might still be canceled for Thursday. All hotels near the beach are closed this week, and a lot of places are without electricity. Can't imagine they would try to play Friday. I hope I get refunded for my tickets since I can't get there because the airport is closed.

Indiana's game against FIU has been canceled:

They are now looking for an opponent for October 7th.

I believe someone mentioned that Illinois and UConn have a bye on the 23rd. If this Friday's game is canceled that could be an option if Illinois wants to schedule a 12th game. That or maybe Illinois can host an FCS opponent that also shares a bye week with us.

Joey Knight‏ @TBTimes_Bulls:

I'm hearing an official announcement on the Illinois-USF game (yea or nay) will be made later this morning.

USF did not practice Monday.

Are we taking this as Yea: the game will be played at Tampa or Nay: it won't be played at all?

Basically, are we to assume at this point that a game location change is probably out of the equation?

Joey Knight, of the TB Times, was optimistic the game would be played, but he didn't give any reasons or details.

I'm guessing the game won't be played at either location. Reason: Lack of practice for USF. I hope I'm wrong, but that's my guess.

Nice! Not only for the teams, but more importantly for all the people and businesses that rely on events for their daily income.

Whew. Having a game get cancelled with all those pups in the starting lineup would have hurt. They need every snap they can get.

So say we end up pulling out a W...think that will be enough to start getting some top 25 votes? Maybe crack it ourselves?

Certainly enough to get a few votes, I'm ashamed to say that I had this same orange Koolaid-infused thought earlier today. I guess the Lovie rebuild has us both excited :illinois:

Don't be ashamed, man! Living in Iowa City, I can tell you that Illini athletics would honestly be lucky to have WAY more blind homer fans than we do. Period.

Anyway, as for the question you quoted ... I'd say we would have some votes, but the vast majority of writers and coaches would just assume that USF was super overrated and want to see us beat a Big Ten team, as unfair as that might seem.
