+4.5 on the road. Let’s see if this moves like Indiana game did or stays the same.

Would this be the biggest win in BB’s Illinois history? Gets us to 6-2 with 4 games left which we should be favored in all. 3 more home games which would likely be all sellouts if we win. And most importantly, a clean path to 10-2 and a very strong chance at the CFP which give our program a big boost. I know we’ve beat higher ranked teams and a good bowl win but this win could really snowball into a lot of positives if we can get a win on Saturday!

me too, our DB made a dumb play batting the ball from the end zone back into the field. if only he had whiffed smh
That's not accurate. You can see the replay on line. He was behind the receiver and had to punch the ball out of his hands. Hard to imagine how he could have handled it differently.

I'm hopeful for a win but not necessarily expecting it. The biggest thing is: take care of the 4 games that, in past years, have had a couple where we blew it (Purdue/MSU in 2022, Minnesota last year). I don't think there is a single person on this forum that would have thought Bret would have this program looking at back-to-back 9-3 seasons by year 5. That is something this program has never had. It's truly remarkable, yet I think it cannot be overstated enough.

Not to quibble too much, but Minnesota last year wasn’t the same kind of loss as Purdue and Michigan St in 2022. In those games, Illinois was a 6.5 point favorite and a 15,5 point favorite, whereas Minnesota was a 3 point favorite against Illinois last year.

I will say that I forgot about being underdogs in that game, which is really strange. We were a ranked team hosting an unranked team, yet we were underdogs. But then we went ahead and proved why!

Run, stop the run and contain the big plays. Their team is beatable. I think we pull this one off. We have been humbled and are very hungry as well as healthy going in.

Was not impressed by Washington against Michigan. Not really sure what Vegas sees here.
Michigan DL put pressure on Washington QB and was able to contain his running to some extent. IL either does that or hopes it wins a shoot out. Don't like the idea of lots of rain. Would probably negate our passing game to an extent

If they can keep him in the pocket...get the hands up...he is 5'-11!

If I’m reading this right, pass defense success rate is horrible (offense wins every play) and their offense success rate is very good.
Not great.
Their offense looked like garbage against Michigan, especially in the second half. I think it will be about getting on the board and getting some momentum in front of a tough crowd.

I think we will win this one as long as we avoid turnovers and Luke can start quickly. They will score some points on us, but I'm much more optimistic after seeing the effort against OSU. But we need Luke to hit throws early and not take 3-4 series to loosen up.

Can't wait for this one.

5 games to show us something Henry.
Through 7 games, Illinois defensive rankings amongst B1G teams:
>Opponent total yards/game - 14th/18
>Opponent pass yards/game - 14th/18
(the good news here is Rutgers 18th, Wisc. 15th, Washington 13th, Maryland 11th, Northwestern 7th)
>Opponent rush yards/game - 11th/18
Woof.

Let’s hope there was a lot of self scouting during the bye week. There have been 2 corner blitzes from Luke’s right side that he never saw coming. First one resulted in a hard sack and the second was a strip sack.
You better believe Ryan Walters will be dialing up this same blitz on the first obvious passing down, and maybe 10 more times if it works. Hopefully BL and Luke have figured out how to counter this.

Werner had a stat somewhere that we are like giving up 40% conversion rate when teams pass on 3rd and 7 and longer. Just crazy bad.

BB is excluding Xavier Scott in his “from a health standpoint, really should have everybody back for practice this week” comment, right? Haven’t heard much on XS14’s injury lately.
