Washington's RB Coleman is really good. This is gonna be another tough one
Coleman, QB Williams and WR Boston. Three guys very likely to be in the NFL soon. All 3 are very fast and QB Williams running puts linebackers on skates.

UW’s defense isn’t that good overall and is worse against the run so the obvious plan might be play lots of Bert Barge ball and keep UW offense on the sidelines. Control the clock.

UW’s Williams, Coleman and Boston are all big play gash play guys. We will need to be ready. Coach Fisch is a bit of a gadget play guy - they try to get all 3 of their speedsters isolated against defenses in space and let them go to work.

There is another RB Muhammad they use as a compliment and their ground game in general is based around read options and roll outs to get Williams out where he can either run or go deep. He’s a better passer from 30+ than he is at stuff underneath. He isn’t a pinpoint passer at all but he has a cannon and can hit people on full run with it. He is a sophomore and this is his first year starting so he can make mistakes. In style he is becoming like a Justin Fields.

Illinois can win. But the UW offense is a good one when it’s clicking. I see a lot of bend don’t break from Illinois and getting interceptions might be key.

This game will be another “state of the program game”. If you want to be a consistently good program (8-10 wins a season, occasionally contending for a CFP bid), this game is one you have to win. It’s a game that separates good programs from really good programs.

UW is a good team. To be a really good program, you have to beat some good teams on tough road trips.

Washington is the toughest remaining game on the schedule. Win that, and I think the Illini control their own CFP destiny. I’ll be in attendance. Should be a good one.

Maryland and NW are on lines 1 and 2......they'd like a word with you.

Did you happen to see Northwestern’s remaining schedule after Purdue? away at Nebraska, away at USC, Michigan at home, Minnesota at home and away at Illinois. You never know in college football, crazy things can happen but tough schedule.

I don't think 2 losses and not playing in the Big Ten Championship gets Illinois in. They surely won't be the best 2 loss team.

That would be 5 straight wins and the only 2 losses probably coming against probably the 1 and 2 teams in college football. You can paint a picture - especially if you get your top corner back.

That said, right now they just need to focus on being better, and everyone playing well at once - because they aren’t the best 2 loss team right now. Rest will take care of itself,

There’s a difference between you can paint a picture and you control your own destiny. We’d be in the conversation and have a case, but a lot of the conversation would be about the scores for our two losses.

I'm not sure why people think two top 5 loses is a feather in our cap when we lost 63-10 and wear losing 34-10 in those games.
