The importance of winning this game has increased. And I believe we can do it. We need one of those games where the other team makes the mistakes. I do not think we are a playoff team even at 10-2 but I do believe we are better coached than most teams and we will continue to win the close games. Go 9-3/10-2 and I’ll take that and a New Year’s Day bowl.

There’s a difference between you can paint a picture and you control your own destiny. We’d be in the conversation and have a case, but a lot of the conversation would be about the scores for our two losses.
It will not. You'll be the fourth big ten team, and 4 teams from the big ten are going to get in.

Missing too much attention to the little details. Talent's there but they got to quit shooting themselves in the foot. Time to reset on a bye week and quit being lazy thinking it'll just happen

Please put me back in FL for a bowl game, but this time make it miznoz!! Hate to say it... but that Indiana game's guna be every non-fan's opinion of this team, unless we start making dominant victories here on out + a sec !!! whooping in the bowl game

With USC, PSU, and OSU on bye and no marquee matchups across the B1G, it's difficult to predict how the networks will select October 25 games (I would not be surprised if networks exercise their 6-day option to see the outcome of this week's matchups).

My best guess:
CBS @2:30 pm CT

ILL@Wash is a top 3 October 25 B1G matchup (I may be biased) and therefore should slot in to one of FOX, CBS, or NBC.

Due to the Pacific Time zone, it won't be Fox@Noon. With the Illini having to travel across the country after the game and no bye the following week, I think the B1G will avoid the night window (prevent Illini from getting home at 4am local time).

Other October 25 B1G games:
UCLA@Indiana - Fox@Noon ET
Rutgers@Purdue - B1G @Noon ET
NW@Nebraska - FS1@3:30 ET
Minn@Iowa - B1G@3:30 ET
Wisc@Oregon - FS1@7ET
Mich@MSU - NBC @7:30 ET

Unfortunately, the playoff spot is a pipe dream

The thing about the "we wont make the playoff because x, y, z talk" is that it is both right and wrong at the same time. Wrong in the sense that if we go 10-2, Illinois is 100% in... unless A LOT of "other" games go against us. It's also right, or "reasonable" talk because in all likelihood, we're not a 10-2 football team.

Does the Big Ten actually restrict those late times for Central and Eastern time zone teams? It does seem like the UW Illinois game is the best one on the slate that weekend. So I think it is picked by whomever has the first pick between NBC and CBS.

If Washington beats Michigan next weekend, they'll be getting a lot of hype as a playoff team also.

I don't think 2 losses and not playing in the Big Ten Championship gets Illinois in. They surely won't be the best 2 loss team.
Who will be a better two loss team? And it’s two losses for the season not the BT?

if (and it’s a big if) ND loses a third game, that eliminates them and essentially opens another spot.

There’s a huge number of variables but I find it hard to believe that either osu or Indiana are outside of the CFP picture come the final poll. That means we’d only have losses to teams in the playoffs.

Yes, we will have essentially zero signature wins (though I think USC and Duke are aging very very well, and a Washington away win will look nice) but it’s tough for me to think we’d be left out based on our losses.

I dont see a win here, hope im wrong.
I don't hate the spot. Bye week helps, you've been up against the best talent and the best coaching already.

Washington does have a mobile QB and a bunch of playmakers in space which worries me. Traveling cross country to play in Washington is tough.

They do have to play Michigan next week though...who should be more than amped to physically dominated them. So chance to for a few Washington players to be banged up to say the least. Especially their tiny QB.

If ND loses another game, it'll likely come to USC. If USC beats ND, they're likely 10-2 (or better). That's a signature win.

I’m pretty sure the B1G restricts the west coast teams from the noon slot because that’s 9am local time which is too early for their fans to attend / tune in. But I have seen the west coast teams play the in the night slot, so that’s likely on the table.

Based on what, though? If they are 10-2, there's a strong likelihood their only two losses would be to #1 and #2 in the country. Hard to say there would be better 2-loss teams than that...
Only if you ignore margin of victory.

Maybe that OSU margin of victory will look pretty good at the end of the season, but I hardly think it’s a slam dunk we’d get in over a two loss SEC team that has two close loses. I don’t have to work hard to imagine us at 10-2 looking up at a 3 loss ‘Bama team. And that will certainly be the talk track on ESPN the week leading up to selection and kick off of our the first round of games.

My dad and I are flying out and staying near campus. Any food or touristy suggestions would be appreciated!
