I am going out on a limb and say the Illini come up big in Madison with some unexpected player to have an exceptional game. Illini-83-Badgers 78

LaPhonso was dominant center for East Saint Louis state champs. He was the missing big man for the Flying Illini. He was "supposed" to commit to Illinois but at last minute switched to Notre Dame because he did not want to play 5. Digger told him ND already had a 5 so he would play 4 at ND. Of course that was a lie and LaPhonso spent 4 years on mediocre ND teams playing the 5.

Cuonzo Martin from same ESL team was supposed to come to Illinois but the Deon Thomas NCAA scandal scared him off and he went to Purdue instead and became all B10. Juwon Howard was rumored to be ready to commit to Illinois but same issue with Deon Thomas NCAA scandal. Lou had Illinois recruiting on a roll but it derailed because of Bruce Pearls made up allegatations about Illinois $20k payment to Deon.

Ok I’m out of the loop here, why do we hate LaPhonso Ellis?
While Pearl was pulling all his crap about Lou and Illinois giving Deon a Chevy Blazer, Digger was spewing the same crap as he recruited Ellis and Ellis bought into it and starting speaking out against Illini and Deon too. Ended up being three jailbirds, so to speak, chirping the same story. Before Digger got involved, LaPhonso was leaning Illini. They're all scum.

Fwiw, last game I tried the Varsity app and couldn't figure out how to make it work. The initial radio broadcast it gave me was so far off from my YouTube TV broadcast that I wasn't even sure which way to go to get the two synched. (I think my video was about ten seconds ahead of what they were giving as the radio, but I just gave up rather than miss any more of the game futzing with it.)
I use the radio link that Dan provides in the first post of the game thread...
I usually watch the game on my computer....
Make sure your video is OFF the live mode and it's easy to sync.....
JMHO...

Was at the EG game as a middle schooler. Was so hyped when CF chest bumped EG halfway back to his bench.

To this day the most intense, angry crowd environment I've ever been in. Wish we could get that energy back in the Hall/SFC at least for Purdue next week. I certainly don't condone fans throwing full buckets of popcorn and ice onto an opposing players' family like that day, but would be nice to have opponents actually afraid of coming to Champaign again.
I was there too and I agree.

Much older of course!

And Ellis admitted later he lied about it.

Yeah yesterday someone asked if they'd be crazy if they didn't want him if he becomes available this off-season as a xfer.

Hes a very good 2 way player, but he absolutely can become a black hole on offense. He's not a playmaker outside of shooting the ball, evidenced by his putrid assist rate for a guy who has the ball so much.
I would take him as a role player. Don't think I would want him to be the focus of an offense. But I don't see a guy who's averaging 16 in the Big10 transferring to be a third option.

Seems like the type of guy that is the number 1 option on a mediocre team unless he makes a big jump.

JMO - Hawkins had 9 rebounds. Mayer did go crazy going 5-11 from 3.

We held them to 33% shooting. Hard to believe we were so much better at defense last year playing Mayer and Epps. I believe story line that we suck on defense is an aberration and that we will regress to the mean (an average defensive team) over time.

Mayer was actually a plus defender when he was engaged. He had good length and mobility plus he was the best shot blocker on the team(same number blocks per game as Coleman and Dain despite mostly playing on the perimeter).

F the drama
Lets go get a W tomorrow

I don't care if its 110-109

We are who we are.......you will probably never see another illini team prolific on O

That's why to me we are a final four contender. That idea of basketball is score more then your opponents and we can SCORE

Agree. Accept who we are. Eliminate the late game mishaps and we’ll be fine

I know that there's a couple of liquor connoisseurs on here. Have any of you tried Dalmore 21 YR before? I bought a bottle after a recommendation from a customer. Holy bajeebus, this is crazy good! I thought that I had tried good Whiskey before...I was very wrong (y)
Cheers Mazel Tov GIF

I've noticed a lot of green today. Green=Good. Good=Positive. Positive has 8 letters. 8 point Illini win!
Also, Green=MSU ;)

No, no, no, no, just please, no! He's in my top 3 of "commentators that I wish I could punch through the TV". Fighter of the Nightman would enjoy the rubdown though :ROFLMAO:
