Do you TRULY believe that Brad sits in the middle of the huddle and stresses to keep launching threes, regardless of situation? Do you think that's really happening?
Or, more likely, is it.....get the ball to the paint, take it to the paint and if the open looks is there, take it. That's FAR more likely. That really falls on our ball handlers that good decisions weren't being made and that's been the case for a while now.
Good decision making and ball security has been an issue now for a long while now. At what point, do we ask where the on court leadership and situational processing is the issue? It should NEVER take a TV timeout to reinforce that.
Well I certainly hope to hell not. (At this point, that would mean he still hasn’t realized who this team is…and he’s still waiting for that “regression to the mean”)
I have no idea what he is saying on the sideline. But look at how he built this roster. That tells me a lot right there…couple that with the rhetoric…yeah I think he’s telling KJ to shoot, shoot, shoot…more often than not.
He’s just NOW (publicly at least)stating the importance of getting to the basket.
Obviously, we are not privy to what happens in practice or the sidelines…so your guess is as good as mine. He certainly has said he wants us to shoot 30-40 a game in pressers ad nauseam.
It’s been the thing that he has publicly said the most. Not: “Boy we really need to consistently run our stuff better and execute…or whatever” He thought: the talent would gel and carry us…and that we had great shooters” He evidently thought we could play a little more free wheeling and freelance and get away with it. It hasn’t panned out like that.
Obviously some of the overally enthusiastic 3-ball launching talk is coach speak….with an intended audience of the team and would-be recruits & transfers…”come to Illinois you can shoot it all day long!”
I don’t think he says a lot on the sideline about specifics. I think he’s more of that…I do my coaching in practice kinda coach. That is sure how it seems.
As to the lack of leader-thing…if you don’t have a leader …or if your leader isn’t leading how you want…the coach has to step in.
* In that other post, that I replied to you…I re-read it…I kinda thought I sounded like Dickinson. I apologize. You make some good points.
