hope whatever lesson BU is trying to teach TW is worth it. having a player so clearly in the doghouse impacts the psyche of the whole team. had hoped he would try to teach the lesson and move on but it appears not

Wisconsin is the hottest team in the Big Ten right now. They also shoot a lot of 3's and make them. We need to turn it into a tough 2's game to have a chance. Limit our 3's to 15-20 range and aggressively go to the paint for opportunities. This is going to be an insanely tough matchup for us as Wisconsin teams are so well disciplined.

Not exactly sure what you mean. Are you saying he was paid with the expectation he would be a featured scorer? Or that he was paid little so why bother doing the extra stuff, like defending.
That should not be difficult to understand LOL

I think the hope ended for me last night.

I’ll go ahead and say the quiet part out loud, I’m not sold on Wisconsin. They’ve played the bottom feeders off the conference lately and that Purdue was more fluky than anything else. They won’t shot like that again. We always play them well or beat them. I see people on here saying we’re are going to lose by 15-20, when is the last time we’ve been blown out on the road? I’ll wait.

unless KJ/Will combine for 50+ points like domask and TJ would, I dont see how we win any of these games other then iowa.

I don't think that this is discussed enough. Who is the leader on this roster? We were obviously prepped to come out of the locker room. We looked great. EVERY good team has THAT guy who when things go wrong, pulls his guys aside and straightens things out. Heck, during time outs, the first 3/4 of it is the players figuring it out, then the coach comes in and buttons everything up.

Who is that guy this year? With MSU being over the foul limit, should it really have taken Brad to point out the common sense obvious? It's one of three issues. 1)The leadership lever on this team is nil, 2)the intelligence and awareness level is nil or 3)we don't have the talent/quickness to continually get into the lane and make things happen.

It really shouldn't take the coach to tell them to get to the rim of get it inside with no dribble drive or dumping it into the paint. KJ and Tomi should have been living at the line. They didn't.
I feel differently. Moving the ball around the perimeter into a position where you can get your post guy in a good position to score during a game involves preparation in practice. It takes a lot more than "get the ball inside." I also think the point other commenters have made here was a good one about our guys being spent at the end of the game because of our senseless substitution patterns and then our guys jacking threes because they didn't have the energy to generate offense against MSU's fresher and better-organized-than-ours defense. That's not on "leadership." That's on our coaching staff.

Greg Gard is a smart basketball coach. He will see that MSU doubled KJ on every ball screen late in the game and our offense never adjusted, becoming totally ineffective. Will Brad figure out how to counter this? If not it could get really ugly.

When your entire team are new to each other, it's hard to develop the kind of rapport required for a player to emerge as the leader. I think that's a nontrivial portion of our issues this year.

Yes, the portal/NIL era has led to lots of turnover on all rosters, but I do think Brad would do well to put more priority on continuity moving forward. Obviously, we don't want guys who can't play at our level, but we need to stop losing the guys who can so that some can grow into the upperclassman leaders we sorely miss.

Do you TRULY believe that Brad sits in the middle of the huddle and stresses to keep launching threes, regardless of situation? Do you think that's really happening?

Or, more likely, is it.....get the ball to the paint, take it to the paint and if the open looks is there, take it. That's FAR more likely. That really falls on our ball handlers that good decisions weren't being made and that's been the case for a while now.

Good decision making and ball security has been an issue now for a long while now. At what point, do we ask where the on court leadership and situational processing is the issue? It should NEVER take a TV timeout to reinforce that.
His language earlier this season sure implied that he does. And ultimately, it's his job to stress that they STOP doing that when it's ineffective.

We will see what he values in the near future. If we have everyone leave like last year we have our answer. I don’t know that he has the ability to retain players. Add to that he’s had plenty of NIL money so he just runs people off knowing he can buy new ones.

Tomi is a way better player than Ben. Boswell no showing and KJ playing hero ball hurt a lot more than Ben missing a couple of wide open threes. Awesome game by Morez, he's going to be special
For another team. Why would he stay here? Ben likely to get 30 minutes again.

Great point.

Tre apparently did something so egregious he can’t play but not so bad that he doesn’t get kicked off the team.

Either play him or let him walk. BU won’t do the latter because he paid Tre and can’t admit he made a culture mistake so we’re left wondering why this talent isn’t playing.
Tre's problem seems to be that he won't buy into the bologna system that Brad & Co. have installed this season.

No way Ben is back playing for us next season. Ben will be somewhere else. If there was any possibility that the staff will go for Ben over Morez for retention next season then I might finally join the it's time we need a new head coach crowd. Lol.

Let’s hope so. I still have nightmares of Loyola doing this to Ayo and we didnt adjust to it.
