I just pulled this from ESPN following Arizona's Wednesday night victory over previously undefeated Wyoming (#112 KenPom), which AZ won by 30 points:

"The ball shot up the court like a rock skipping across water, one pass to the next until it reached an open shooter. There were dunks, 3-pointers, pull-up jumpers, quick dump-ins to the post. Most went in."

The announcers in the highlight clip then added this:

Arizona is swarming; and attacking; and finishing."

We do have a common opponent. Zona played that UTRGV team that hung around with us late in the game. Zona beat them by 54. Now, I think we have gotten better since then and maybe UTRGV got better between Zona and when they played us, but Zona smoked a team we struggled with. I'd love to see us blow out Zona, but that's a tall order.
This team for years has played down to the opponents level. It's truly what holds the Illini back sometimes. This team, certainly over the past 2.5 years should have made teams adjust to it, that doesn't happen often enough.

I've seen AZ play a few times this year. Seems there is a lot of dismissing of their talent on this board, but I'll chalk it up to heavy drinking of orange kool-aid.

These guys are tough, quick and athletic. They are going to be a tough matchup, but, this is what we want right? I think we can win this, but it's going to be a grind and we are going to have to take care of the ball better than we have in any game this year.

I have faith BU and staff will have us ready to battle.

I'm obviously not going to claim that Arizona is not a good team. But undefeated or not, it's Wyoming. A good team SHOULD throttle a team like Wyoming more often than not even though they are a quality mid-major.

I have a gut feeling that we practice against a press this week. Low key coaching. They gonna do it.
If we can't figure out how to beat a press we will have disappointments throughout the season. We will see it until we show we can handle it and make teams pay.

It’s like folks are forgetting our last home game was a 35 point blowout against a conference foe. Arizona is very good. So are we. I expect a good one. The way Trent shut off Bohannon’s water last game has to bode well for our ability to limit their admittedly excellent transition play. Damonte gets Mathurin, Trent their PG, Plummer their worst offensive perimeter threat, Hawkins Euro big, and Kofi gets Pac 12 Cliff Omoruyi.

This is where having upperclassmen pays dividends. Illini by seven.

U of A creaming Wyoming tonight 35 to 14 still in the first half. They play two 7 footers at the same time and have another as the back-up center. The starting team is very quick and athletic (announcers just said 3rd fastest team in college BBall... not sure how they measure it). It will be interesting how we rebound against them.

I believe it will be a tough and close game. We can't turnover the ball 20 times in this one and win.
The 3 7-footers have been talked about a fair amount, but I think it is the length of the rest of the team that will give the Illini issues. Their starting backcourt is 6-7 and 6-3, and Mathurin, their top scorer is 6-6. No one off the bench that sees much time is under 6-4.

Speaking of their bench, do you know why Aiken didn’t see any action for them last night. He’s been averaging 15 mpg off the bench for them (though only saw 5 versus UM). Also saw that two of their players suffered ankle injuries last night. Their 6-7 starting guard Kriisa did return in second half, but Larsson, their transfer from Utah, was limited to 10 minutes. If Aiken/Larsson are out or limited, it would shorten their bench against the Illini.

Yeah, Trent iced Bohannon.

Saw clips of the game against UM. They were very impressive - the above description fit them.

However, that is pretty much our philosophy too - 7 seconds

IF we are to normalize (we were at full strength in all games) both teams, they are pretty much on par (from ESPN):
