Not true, been to Chattanooga games this year, he’s looked good. Also if his social media is to be believed he seems to have learned from this incident
Maybe true, but his past actions stick in my mind and if he was living up to his potential a top 35 player wouldn't be playing at Chattanooga. I believe Kofi will have his way in this contest, but I have been wrong many times (so far today that is) so who knows. We will find out Friday.

Seth Davis has picked against Big Ten teams in almost every selection.
LOL, he keeps saying nine teams and not talking about matchups. Third grade argument.
And last year has no bearing on this year, as anyone with any sense should know.

Just thought of this. Maybe Seth is now anti Illini bc Steve Bardo criticized him on twitter for being too negative about Michigan’s coach schmacking someone. (I’m kidding)

I would definitely rather be switched with Iowa's position. Chattanooga has 2 really good players in Malachi Smith and Jean-Baptiste. Smith's efficiency numbers especially are outstanding. Similar to us they have three high attempt 3pt shooters over 34%, 1 of whom is over 40%. They have strong 3pt defense and they are really proficient at forcing steals. They are an outstanding offensive rebounding team and really don't turn the ball over much. They are also an outstanding free throw shooting team though they don't get to the line often.

The major advantage we have is they are extremely undersized in the front court- only 2 players on the entire team over 6'7" and nobody over 6'10". If we are smart and get the ball inside to Kofi, we should get them in serious foul trouble and Kofi will eat. Main thing we need to do is be smart with the basketball, limit the turnovers, keep Smith and Baptiste from getting open threes and this is a team that we absolutely cannot fall behind because they will bury us at the line and are very good at guarding the three. Not the best matchup we could've gotten, but still gotta win it. We cannot afford to come out slow in this one or lose our defensive intensity.
And, these two players have NEVER been guarded by Trent and Da’monte

If we come mentally ready to play we win by 10. Full stop. I don’t care what transfers they have. We always run to us getting screwed by the NCAA. We were the co-champs of a conference that got 9 teams in. This team shouldn’t beat us

Looks like UT-C is a pretty good 3-point shooting team. Not gonna be an easy game — at least on paper — but then none of them are at this point. I’m guessing there were several teams salivating last year in tourney when they saw they’d be playing Oregon St.

Excellent take. If Smith doesn't go off for a career-scoring night( like has happened seemingly all too often with teams playing us) I think we can bury this team. Essential that Kofi stays out of foul trouble, Hawkins has double-digit rebounds with hopefully at least 5 offensive boards. Provided we get past them, I can see the Houston game being an ugly 59-54 affair with us coming out of the first weekend getting ready to play a re-match against Arizona. Ridiculous how Wisconsin has such an easier road to sweet 16 when we beat them head to head and are co-big 10 champs with them.
I don't think Wisconsin has anything easy with they way they've played.

Out of the 13 seeds I don’t think Chattanooga is a bad draw. Vermont and South Dakota St are going to be hand fulls.

As for 5 seeds Houston is beloved by metrics but they don’t really have a tough schedule so the jury is still out on them. Would rather see them than UConn or Iowa for a 3rd time.

Difference between a 3 and 4 seed. We had our shot and didn’t capitalize. We come out and play hard we’re seeing Arizona in the second weekend. We come out like we did against Rutgers and tOSU it’s a whole different story.

So, Chattanooga has "the build of a power five team" with "size at every position".

They go 6 deep.
6'9" (DeSousa)
6'7" (Hankton)
6'6" (Banks)
6'1" (Jean-Baptiste)
6'4" (Smith)
..
6'5" (Caldwell)
..
6'5" (Ledford)

So, their big man was out for six games and back for the last five. His tick since then:
30 [OT] (4th)
21 (T-5th)
13 (7th, foul trouble)
18 (6th, foul trouble)
14 (7th)

They've played and beaten Furman (conference runner-up) three times. Aside from VCU in November, these have been their best wins and arguably their best performances.

71-69 at home prior to injury
64-58 on the road in the 4th game of the injury
64-63 (OT) neutral site champsionship game

Illinois looks bad when shooting poorly, but our real weakness is long, well-conditioned teams. There is a conclusion waiting to be drawn here.

I refuse to get stressed about the Mocs. They're not the easiest matchup we could have had, but they're nowhere near as good as numerous teams we've beaten this season. After seeing the video of our guys hearing the seed, they seemed every bit as annoyed with it as we are (even if I'd argue it was justified, we have the 14th best resume). They'll be locked in and play with a chip on their shoulder.
