Game prediction: Curbelo gets called for a carry (still love him), Ayo gets the ball to the backboard quickly to draw a goaltending call (hasn't happened in too long), and Grandison gets 2 alley-oops (recent backdoor cuts add a nice new wrinkle like we used to do in years past every weave set). Go Illini!!!

Getting ahead of myself but for fun lets compare 04/05 team and this one. Center - current team Cofi v. Augustine nothing against James but come on..., Forward Powel 04/05 takes slightly, Guards...Dee, Deron and Luther tough to beat. Ayo has huge upside but Frazier and Miller not Dee or Luther. Bench goes to current team. Thoughts,,,,,,,Keep in mind Illini beat Gonzaga in In Indy preseason Wooden Tourny, Wooden said after game "one of the best displays of team play ever"
From a team to team comparison standpoint - it's not even close- the '05 team was one of the best college basketball teams of that era

Having said that - this team is probably better built for the tournament given the versatility of being able to pound it inside and have really good three point shooters, uptempo, half-court - we're a good team against any style. The achilles heal of the '05 team was being able to defend the post, Frye and May had a field day against them, which ultimately cost them a championship against May. This team doesn't execute nearly as well as that '05 team, but we have so many advantages and a great closer, we've gotten away with it

Why is an ice rink under all of that any more slippery than a court laid directly over concrete?
The ice cools the floor and moisture condenses on the floor, making it slippery. This is a problem in high humidity conditions, and a stadium filled with 10,000 fans will be humid. The fact that tourney games will be under 25% capacity helps, it all depends what the outside humidity is and how well the venue's ventilation system controls humidity.

Ice surfaces in old arenas having substandard HVAC systems = recipe for ugliness in temperate, relatively humid climes. (e.g., the AH didn't have A/C until the reno several years ago.) Used to be a problem in older arenas in Midwest & NE during the late spring.

Sabres-Flyers had a game during 1975 playoffs in Buffalo in May called "The Fog Game.' It was crazy. Could barely see the ice:

Only true if poorly insulated. This isn't the 1980s anymore so I have to believe we've improved court-on-ice technology.

True, but this is in Indiana, so who knows. Isn't the arena on the Indiana fairgrounds? If so, I hope it's more up to date than the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Actually it should not be a major issue. We'll find out tomorrow.

It's IUPUI's home court and was recently renovated.

...There's a message board for Drexel basketball? Like, they actually have fans? Heh. That is...something.

I guess we aren't anything more than a two-man team in their eyes. Ahh well. They'll know what we're all about tomorrow.
Tyler Underwood might see 5+ min of action tomorrow.

My brother in law is a Drexel grad. Post grad from Mary Washington. I texted him and asked if he cared to wager on Fridays game. He said 'wait until Mary Washington is in the tourney'. My wife went to grad school at Mary Washington. She says they don't even have a team.

Nah I think they kind of know. Yeah our best two players are advertised loudly and will draw a lot of attention but I think they also know you don’t get a 1 seed by just two guys.

She is incorrect:

Mary Washington's men's basketball advanced to the national Division 3 quarterfinals in 2014.

Go Eagles!

That board has a ton of schools, including ours. It appears to have one Illini fan just shouting into the void.
