I feel sorry for all of you who forked out loads of money to attend this one. This could get really ugly, but I am a glutton for punishment, so I will still be watching on television and cheering on the beloved.

Such a strange season for a team that will still almost certainly make the Tourney. What could have been if the team did not have all of these sicknesses and injuries (and maybe some better game plans).

I hope we get some bodies back healthy for Saturday. Couldn't watch the game this evening because of work. Arrived home around 10 this evening to find this bad boy having arrived. I'll be wearing it Saturday in the Garden and supporting the boys win or lose.

We'll back you to stand / 'Gainst the best in the land / ' Cause we know you have sand, Illinois

I heard someone say Jake Davis is on a plane, right now, to Duke.
Gonna scout them close up.
Then he's gonna sneeze/puke all over them.
And come home.
Gestation is what? 2-3 days?
We got this.

Maybe BU should just put guys out on the floor and let them make up the game plan as they go. It works down at the Y in rec ball.

For this game to even be a game, IL will need to shoot out of their minds from 3 and have someone unexpected come up big (Maybe Boswell scores 25+ or Booth hits 4 threes). Something crazy.

Bc this game is very similar to the Maryland matchup where Duke will dominate inside and control the offensive rebound advantage that IL normally has. And as we saw with MD and WI, when IL gets crushed on the glass or in the paint, they get blown out and Duke is better inside that both those teams. Very bad matchup here for the Illini.

I'm in the position to sell my ticket for 3-4x purchase price and I'm considering. Having bad weather in Mid-Atlantic and concerned regarding travel. Teams play isn't aspiring me to go.

In all my years of following Illinois basketball, which started in 1985. I have never seen anything like this season. I have seen teams with injuries but not teams who have injuries and are ravaged by sickness.

There have been some disappointing coaching efforts and losses this year but I'm to a point where I refuse to pile on this team right now because of the factors I just mentioned.

It would be great if we did not play Duke this weekend and had a whole week off to get healthy. However that's not the case.

I just want to see this team get over the illness bug and see what happens. I am fine with this team getting a 10 seed in the tournament because if we are healthy we might be the best damn 10 seed ever to play in the tournament.

With the injuries and the sickness the Duke game really doesn't matter at this point. We have to beat Iowa, and see what we can do with Michigan and Purdue.

Here's to hoping this team gets healthy by tournament time so we can see what this team really looks like with all of its parts.

Go ILLINI

Can any old timers recall a Illini season spiraling this bad in late Feb turning it around?

Short answer, no.

But BU has arguably been slow to change and improved when he finally did. I think OK State had a losing streak that he turned around to get into the tournament. This team looks really out of sync, and I'm having a hard time imagining it coming together. The pieces are much more than the sum of the parts, and I don't know what needs to happen. It's pretty common for losing to become contagious, and dissatisfied players to start thinking me-first rather than team-first. I think we're all starting to wonder where the leadership is going to come from, because we're seeing individual players do some really good things, but not the team.

The inconsistency, especially when they jump out to a lead, reminds me in a bad way of the Mayer team that finished so poorly, losing first round of both the BTT and NCAA
