It's similar for KJ when Boswell runs the point. Also for both Boswell and KJ when Riley initiates. Whoever has the ball, the others clear out and let them try and make a play. We might run a two man game of PNR with a big, but that doesn't involve the other guards.
Looking at this rundown of the Kasparas turnovers really shows how much having Boswell out there hurts our offense. He is being unguarded and it's basically 5 defenders against 4 Illini. If Boswell isn't handling the ball he's doing nothing for our offense.
Daisy Gibbs Lawhorn? We had a dog when I was growing up, Daisy, that was just full of energy. I had two brothers, we loved to hold a tennis out and ask the dog "do you want it" and toss it back and forth, get her all fired up, then one of us launch it as far as we could and just watch her tear off 1000 mph after it.
I kind of feel like that's the best role for DGL. I know there's lots of suggestions for him to get 30 - 35 minutes per night, but I don't think he can sustain that energy for that amount of time. I'd rather we let him off his chain and he go for 2-3 minutes full tilt, shoot nearly every time he touches it, and then get subbed out to rest up and do it again and get somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 total minutes of chaos.
Boy, that would be one helluva coincidence.Daisy Gibbs Lawhorn?
I LOVED this game. It was special.
The voice of the Illini, Jim Turpin, I believe.Who is the commentator we hear in this video? His vocal style is dated even for 1995... sounds like what I hear when I watch old college football clips from the 70s a la Keith Jackson.

I realize that some personnel can kind of require drop coverage(Ivisic) but I've never been a huge fan and to play it well it really requires your big to be a phenomenal rim protector.I know you can’t just throw random defensive adjustments out there, but I think long term we need to start considering moving away from drop coverage against every single player.
Short term, I think a little inbounding pressure might help, similar to early in BUs tenure. I get this is a desperation move, but we have to try something especially if teams are gonna just drop 90+ on us.
New defensive coordinator will be needed in order to implement that. It's a fine idea.I realize that some personnel can kind of require drop coverage(Ivisic) but I've never been a huge fan and to play it well it really requires your big to be a phenomenal rim protector.
Seems like NBA teams have adjusted and are playing less drop coverage while also seeing teams switch up and play even less drop coverage in the playoffs(especially the better teams like Boston).
I know the 40 minutes of hell style of defense is dated and not really viable because of how foils are called now but I still like the mindset of using your defense to make opposing teams uncomfortable and drop coverage just fundamentally does not do that.
Drop coverage allows for a ton of open space and gives guys room to get up to speed and attack the basket or the mid range. Also, going over on every player at the college level is idiotic since most college players aren't going to consistently knockdown pull up 3's coming off a pick and roll.
Basically I'd like to see more variety in defensive coverage and game plans for various players. Maybe you go over the screen on the teams best shooter but slide under for everyone else, or mix up the pnr coverage so you're hedging, switching, or occasionally doubling depending on the matchup.
I think you are correct. Jim Turpin, the voice of the Illini for years, is a big reason why I have followed, listened, and watched Illinois for over 60 years. The voice of the Illini, Jim Turpin, I believe.
Should they recruit players with better immune systems? It seems like these young athletes in their prime have been sick continuously for 6 weeks.Raise your hand if you’re tired of hearing Brad talk about not having all his players for practices/games in every media session he gets![]()
As much as I enjoyed that game, I do remember feeling less excited than I would have expected because that was not a great Duke team.
I LOVED this game. It was special.
