It's more than a bit surreal to me that this is happening today. Hasn't even been 24 hours... Difficult for me to analyze the game, that's for sure, can't imagine what it must be like as a player closer to the situation.

I think Illinois handles the extra minutes by committee. Justin will likely go up in time from 16mpg to 25+mpg. Luke will go up from 20mpg to 25+mpg. And DGL might get 10-15. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned.

Long-term, dependent on Josh's outlook on the situation with regards to TSJ, if Josh considers him as out for a significant length of time, there likely will be some very real conversations between Brad and Sencire about burning the redshirt.

As for the game tonight, I think Ty takes the reins of the de facto leader and Marcus and Quincy carry us through. FDU is not a good shooting team and a terrible rebounding team, so gotta man up on defense and crash the boards hard. Second chance points will be our winning formula. Assembly Hall may sound like a morgue tonight- gotta rely on our upperclassmen to keep everyone focused on the task at hand.

What a strange strange day...

Not a bad idea...not sure how that works. If you declare redshirt, I'm not sure if it can be rescinded or not
Yes you can play at any point. The redshirt is then null and void.

Goode could have kept his redshirt last season after he recovered from his injury, but decided to play.

AJ Redd, your table is ready.
I would say the coaching staff will try to convince Harris to burn the redshirt. Defensively, TSJ will be hard to replace. DGL and Harmon are not the answer on that end. It will be interesting to see how the lineup is juggled to compensate.

Maybe I'm making it up, but I seem to recall BU saying Harmon was a better on ball defender than Harris (something to the effect that Harris fouls too much).

I think we will play with a vengeance tonite and win handily. However, the big ten schedule will be a different can of worms.

Curious what the crowd and energy will be like tonight. No Krush, news about Terrence. This will certainly be a night to remember for a lot of reasons tonight at The Hall

How the team plays tonight will depend a lot on how aggressive the Illini will be. They cannot come out with this TSJ thing on the back of their minds. Because FDU will feel it and take the game to em. They don't have anyone over 6'7", so probably cram the inside and force Illini to shoot from outside. Gotta have Goode and Domask open it up. I feel we can get past this difficult first day.

I am excited about seeing what Marcus, Quentin, Luke and Dain do with the extra shots

They just need to come out with a W. It’ll happen either way but there’s really no point in over analyzing any flaws we might see tonight. The players shouldn’t be judged with how they respond with this little time to process everything.

They fortunately get to work through things against a cupcake which is much better than facing a juggernaut when emotionally drained. I just hope the positivity from the team is still apparent (may take some time given the turnaround) as I was darn tired of the constant body language detectives from last year and the start of this year. Team needs to continue to lift one another up.
