Not my fault it was Babcock Hall. I also hadn't the wit nor courage to come up with the hall's descriptor, known far and wide as: Top of the Coc# Let's see if that gets past the prudes sensoring this and most websites. Growl.

I think Jake is legitimately unplayable in this game unless you play a zone. He was a liability on defense against Penn.

He is not going to be able to guard any of Uzan, Flemings, or Sharp and probably not Miller either. McCarty operates as more of a corner shooter and doesn't put the ball on the floor much so maybe he could hold up there but McCarty is a very good athlete as well.
I fully understand your point. And it makes me nervous. In my career, I built rosters from a completely different philosophy to that our head coach chose this year: me, athletes first, quickness first; but for the U of I Bossman, skill and size has been pushed forward this year as twin firsts. For this season, I am going to have to lean in -- hard -- to what Coach Underwood has wrought. Orange & Blue!

We will beat Houston....for one reason!!!! The next game let down of getting sent home by Iowa/ Nebraska will be of Epic proportions
As an Illini fan living Nebby, I can’t say I didn’t have this same thought. There always seems to be a Murphy’s Law element to these things for Illinois lol. The ultimate kick in the nuts would be beating Houston and then losing to NE, sending them to their first FF.

This is one of those times where you will see the difference between Jake and Ben last year vs this year. Jake’s hungry, and that dog is gonna eat. He’s gonna tear into some sharp! If I’m underwood, I tell Jake, “they think you can’t guard him. Well …. Steal the F-ing bank! Take his lunch money and his shoes!”

If only Ben or Stoj had solid post moves. We have significant height advantage at the 3. Uzan is 6’4” 195 soaken wet…
I’m not saying he’d be Kevin McHale.
But I think you might be surprised with Ben.
He’s never been asked to do that here.
At the very least…I’m sure he can pivot, drop step, and do an up and under.( I think we’ve seen a semi/baby hook a time or two. )I’d almost be surprised if he couldn’t.

He’s looked reasonably comfortable playing with his back to the basket at the High Post before. He did plenty of that where he came from.

Our 7’ Centers can’t even do that. Not sure they teach that at the good ol U of I…

I can’t remember the last 2 point attempt by Ben

Jake Gyllenhaal Reaction GIF
I couldn't work Shelley (or Wollstonecraft, for that matter) into that one so settled for Shelley-adjacent.

Took me 15 seconds to type in Tomislav Ivisic post moves to find a mid paint baby hook for 2 with Illinois….I implore you to actually watch the games
Bro I can guarantee that I have watched more Illini games than you (basketball and football) as a former season ticket holder. And you having to resort to Google searches helps prove my point…

My comment was mostly sarcasm because we don’t utilize our size down low despite having a significant advantage. I’ve seen Tomi’s post moves and chicken wing offensive fouls while attempting his post moves.

But don’t come at me with that sht…

Houston will be allowed to be ultra physical. It’s the way they have played the last 9 years under Sampson. The referees know this and will allow plenty of contact. Again, if Illinois can play through the physicality and match Houston’s fight, it will go down to the final minutes.

Houston tries to bully you in a basketball sense. Have to stand up to that. No backdown.
As long as the officials allow it to go both ways, I'm fine with it. I don't want to see us get in foul trouble when we haven't really fouled all year long. We don't need to see Augustine on the bench and fouled out without playing any time at all.

I hope that we don't notice the officials in this game.

Cart from Sleepers called out our team as slow and easy to score on. And he expects us to get punked on Thursday.
