Awesome breakdown. Hard to argue with any of it. Except him saying that playing at Ohio State is a tough road environment
I think he was saying outside of mackey, bres, and pinnacle, OSU was the toughest of the rest (but not necessarily that it is "tough").

Totally agree, an insane statement. Borderline disqualifying for the rest of the post.
People used to say with a straight face that that was one of the best venues in the conference and that's why players wanted to go to Ohio State.

I interpreted it more as 'Mackey or Breslin are tough venues but Value City (Ohio St) and Pinnacle Bank (Nebraska) really aren't' by saying we had a soft road schedule because we only really had 2 tough road games

Right, but that’s still wrong. Carver-Hawkeye and Welsh-Ryan are tougher places to play than Value City, and Pinnacle Bank is a legit challenge.

Hope we are focusing some extra practice time in on our press break. Just ran across a clip of the last few minutes of that Duke / Houston game from last year. Epic collapse from Duke up 6 with 35 seconds left because they couldn't break the press.

I agree, its a legitimate henpeck

Just doesn't ruin the whole message for me like other's said it did for them

I’m fascinated to see what Tyler cooks up for this game. I’m not sure just doing out typical high ball screen with a big is the way to attack this ultra aggressive Houston defense. I do like throwing it into the post with Tomi and David and when they do the monster double team relying on Tomi and David to find an open man and get them in rotation- that should lead to an open three or drives to the basket. Getting one of their bigs in foul trouble would be huge- given they are very thin up front.

On defense - I don’t think Cam needs to change much, we want them to take a lot of mid range and that’s what they like to do, we just need to limit them on the offensive glass. I do think we’ll see a lot of zone to keep us out of foul trouble and limit their guard penetration which is a strength of theirs. We just need to stay attached to Sharp in a zone so he’s not getting open threes.

I’m not in favor of this strategy but if we make it a chippy game early where the officials feel they need to call it close to keep it under control - that favors us dramatically- we’re much deeper and less aggressive on defense so a closely called game will favor us

Definitely going to use our size and passing skills to break the press. Going over the press is more effective than dribbling.
