Can't really stop Garza. But if you can harass Bohannon, you can disrupt Iowa's offense. He's the guy who really makes that team go on the offensive side.
This.
The Smarmy McCaffery is good at feeding the post, but he doesn't do much else on the offensive side of the ball. Bohannon directs traffic from outside the arc and when defenses screw up on the PnR, he (usually) knocks down open jumpers. Don't double Garza off him, don't even sag off of him. Tell BU what flavor of gum he's chewing by halftime.

I honestly don't think that road vs home means a whole heck of a lot this year. I'm not saying that it means nothing because the visiting team still has to travel, play of foreign rims, etc, but not having 15,000+ going bananas on the road makes things infinitely easier. When the conference season is over, I'll be interesting to see the home vs road splits as compared to 2020.
It will be and you are right about the lack of crowd noise. But we could have 5 of 6 games on the road at the end of the season which means lots of travel which is tiring to players

I was going to say that Iowa losing tonight gives us a chance to take 2nd place. Only to quickly realize that there’s going to be a lot of conference games between now and then. 😢

We have a full week to analyze IU defense on Iowa....IU weak in FTs and outrebounded....but their D on Iowa was amazing and got them the win.

So, based upon how everyone feels about us struggling in games, there is no way Iowa can win the B1G or get past the 2nd round of the NCAAs. After all, they lost to Minny and IU.

Watching the IU and Iowa game, and Keegan Murray may be my nominee for who will have the "new career high" game against us. Started the second half with the injury to Fredrick. Tough matchup IF he plays significant minutes.
A lot to like about Murray if you're a Hawkeye fan

Iowa just missed shots. IU's defense was good in a chaotic way but doesn't fit our roster. I think we modify our D slightly, pressuring the 3 point shooters because we are giving up too many clean looks. We must start strong. If we get down double digits early, it will difficult to come back on Iowa. I see us winning by six in a normal B10 game trading leads 5 times.

I actually think IU doubled Garza quite a bit....not all the time....but they seemed to pick times when Garza had his back to where the double team was coming from and didn't have time to recognize and pass out to the perimeter.....don't want to leave Bohanan or Wisekamp open, but a few doubles on Garza when he can't see it coming and catch him off guard could result in some TO's.....oh and by the way.....I wonder if we get the same officiating crew from last night for our game with Iowa??

We shall see what kind of coaching staff we have for sure. 10 days to prepare and put in new material and fix energy issues. Players that are for real will be hungry to compete after 10 days off.

All I ask is for the refs to stay out of the way, but I know that won't happen. The refs know this is an intense game and for some reason they think that means they have to call a bunch of fouls. Same thing happens in many of the Braggin Rights games.

Be mentally prepared for a 50+ foul game. I would love to be wrong.

Doowink as I watched the game last night I noticed that sneaking a player behind Garza was successful. That is what is being done to Kofi. That is the kind of play that DMW or TF. Ia. shot terrible. That is their key to win. Can't wait to see Kofi play Garza again. Wish we had the Krush in the stands.

So this is going to be a huge game....a win here puts us right back in the title race

I know you were being sarcastic, but unless their defense improves, they are exactly the kind of team that could be ripe for a second round upset.

Wait, why on Earth DIDN'T way try to play Iowa this weekend?

ILLINOIS
Tuesday 1/19 vs. PSU
Friday 1/29 vs. Iowa

IOWA
Thursday 1/21 vs. IU
Friday 1/29 at Illinois

Neither team plays the entire weekend or entire next week, and we have both had games cancelled vs. Nebraska AND Michigan State recently. My head hurts too much to try to figure out the specifics, but wouldn't that at least get our game out of the way, possibly allow bumping a game or two up to earlier next week (ZERO Big Ten games on Monday, Tuesday OR Wednesday of next week...), and then we could both be making up our Nebraska and MSU games around the same time later in the season...?

I have no insider info whatsoever, but wouldn't be surprised if both teams wanted time to get players healthy and agreed to playing as scheduled.

We have a few that could benefit from it and I think I saw where Iowa had a couple minor dings, as well.

This would give everyone some time to heal for the run to the title, especially if both teams are in the hunt, which they are

I think because must see TV Friday night with probably little eyeball competition.

I'm pretty sure that with one more scUM loss before our matchup with them, we actually control our own destiny for the B10 regular season title. Hopefully Brad has got this ship going in the right direction now!

This might be your answer, @Fighter of the Nightman.
Because Iowa played it's full non-con schedule and an extra game against us would be considered non conference, not counting in the B1G standings.
It would put them over the NCAA mandated 27 game limit.

Sucks we couldn’t squeeze in a game but at the end of the day things could be worse and our program could be on pause. Quality time to get our bodies right and sharpen things up. Beat Iowa.

Suppose Underhill was able to make Ditka Assistant Coach for the the Iowa Game? Would the Hawkeyes score?
Probably not. I just wanted to give a realistic score projection. I felt giving the Hawkeyes 0 points was unrealistic. 7 is maybe too kind to them. 192 for us seemed low but BBV is coming off the injury so he may only get 25.
