Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if there are any university or alumni sponsored gatherings this weekend in Minneapolis? I know they've happened in the past, at least in Indianapolis. Sitting at a bar where there is an MSU alumni event currently... Way too much green...

Coleman sounded like he was just waking up. Hope these guys are hungry come game time --they're really going to wish they gave everything they could in the last games of the year.
I thought he looked and sounded like a guy that just had his braces tightened. I remember that feeling from many decades ago

My BTT bracket wish list

1. Iowa beats OSU in quadruple OT 125-124 so they only have 18 hour rest before our game
2. Michigan beats Penn State Indiana and Nebraska so they are playing us as their 4th game in 4 days (added bonus this makes sure Juwon is not fired)
3. Wisconsin wins 3 straight to reach the Finals where they meet Illinois with tired legs. I think we match up very well vs Wisconsin.
4. Illinois beats Wisconsin 80-50 in finals so Brad can play Nico, Luke, Dain, Amani and DGL the entire 2H. Luke goes 10 for 12 from 3 point land.

I don't fear anyone in this conference besides Purdue, and we've proven we can hang with them. Whatever the draw is, I say bring it on.
I fear any team that can go 8 for 10 3p in a single half. Repeat our D at Iowa City could be a game changer.

And Auburn of course.

Only way they jump us is if they win the SEC title. 1 quad one win

I'm not ready to root against Auburn - more worried about them dropping to a 5 seed that we might see across from us in a 4/5 pairing than them jumping us.

Ideally they'll win Friday (to stay 4-ish), then do whatever against TN on Saturday. Either they lose, and it helps TN grab that last 1 seed - we're more likely to be in TN's region, where we couldn't have an SEC 5 seed anyway - or they win, they're solidly a 4, and we wouldn't see them in a 4/5 game either.

Sorry. I guess I was too subtle. Just a personal thing. I always root agianst Pearl (right now it's Auburn) regardless of how it may or may not affect Illinois.

Some truly great and truly awful memories in that list, haha. I remember one-and-done performances in 2006 and 2022 being especially disappointing and (IMO) costing us a seed line. I remember our 2019 loss to Iowa, while disappointing and a blowout, truly giving me hope for the future ... and the very next year was a bit of our "we're back" campaign. I wish I had been old enough to witness the surprise run to the title game in 1999 ... but I DO remember a similar run in 2008 and just praying we could somehow knock off Wisconsin and extend our NCAAT streak to 10 years. Alas, it was not to be.

Even after some VERY mediocre years thrown in there, according to Wikipedia Illinois' all-time stats are still pretty good. 3 championships is the third most after MSU (6) and Ohio State (4). Our 7 championship game appearances is tied for second, only to OSU's 9. Our all-time winning percentage in the BTT of .585 is also third, only behind OSU (.647) and MSU (.642).

I also just want to take a moment to laugh that Indiana has a .390 all-time winning percentage in the BTT, inclusive of 1 championship game appearance and 0 titles.
1999. What a great memory.

Last time I saw them was 48 years ago. Can that be right? Wow, just realized I'm really getting old.
I saw them freshman year in Assembly hall 1979. They had just sold out for money with their bubble gum pop album Hi Infidelity.
