I'll go against the grain here and say that I commend BU's decision to burn the tape of the PSU game. They've had two days to prepare for Iowa. Those of us who played (even at the modest level where I did) have had nights like Weds where the entire building collapses. Maybe not in the final 40s but it happens. As a fan I was livid but realize that it's a long season.

He knows this team well. He noted after the MSU game that they spent the two days before they eviscerated Michigan practicing nothing but defense. The marginal value of spending time examining the entrails of that PSU game seems low to me compared with running drills on the court and sentencing several of the guilty (I'm looking at you, CoHawk) to quality treadmill time (oh, for the days when the punishment was running the steps in an 18k arena). He did not say that he ignored the collapse, just that they didn't watch the film.

These guys know full well what they did and didn't do in Rec Hall. They don't need to watch film for a reminder or edification. I expect that they will play differently this afternoon and we won't feel like masochists for tuning in. (Feel better @IlliniKat91 and enjoy the game)

Underwood on the PSU game: “We didn’t watch one second of film; we didn’t talk about it.”
maybe they should watch it with LaTulip and try to fix things
LaTulip's first sentence was "there are certainly slight adjustments that can be made, but this is a mentality thing, man"

I take BU's comment as an agreement with that sentiment.

I still don't understand why BU doesn't hire Mike as a consultant to the coaching staff, in a role like Leonhard
Watching his PSU analysis and his earlier analyses and insights, I have to believe a lot of things would have / could have been fixed already
If staff and players already know these things and how to fix, then why do we keep getting the same ***

In his tenure here at Illinois BU has overcome a variety of problems or glitches within the basketball program....sometimes he has been slow to respond or react to the problem....but once he does, the problem or glitch is usually corrected....this year (imho) the problem/glitch has been the defense....we just can't give up 90 points to mediocre teams and expect to contend for championships...up until the PSU game I felt like the defensive problem was poor positioning, lack of execution, and to some extent lack of communication...but the PSU game I saw an effort problem....hopefully BU and staff gets the problems on the defensive side corrected and soon or we're destined for early exits in both upcoming tourneys

And Underwood says that TSJ played unbelievable defense so obviously he hasn't watched the MLT video.
TSJ is just worn out.
I though Hawkins looked extremely fatigued, slower, lack of usual dynamism, passing, missed free throws, off-balance final foul When two teams are scoring in the 90's one is doing a lot of running.
