hope we can finally get an officiating crew that is consistent, can't figure out the "no calls" on Wagler, unbelievable. This was supposed to be a seasoned and experienced team of officials last night, couldn't prove it by me
Maybe our guys need to take "acting classes", some guys look like they'd been struck by a car.

I will say it’s been a breath of fresh air this tournament not playing teams that flop as a strategy. The big ten had gotten so bad it was sickening.

In regards to Wagler, no doubt he’s not getting a whistle on his drives, but Ive come to conclude he just isn’t good at finishing at the rim against big men- he would be much better served pulling up for a fade away jumper using his length when he penetrates and there are bodies in his way. He’s gotten into a habit of just throwing himself in there hoping for a foul and he’s not explosive enough to finish

a replay of the foul that did get called showed he was fouled three times on that play. It's hard to score when someone is hanging on you, and with his current body. I'm certain he won't be back next year, but we do have a strength building program that works, and he will get stronger.

According to Torvik, we now have the 2nd best odds to win it all and we’re the favorite to make the F4 and the championship game:
I promised the basketball gods my left arm if this would come to be...Question: Do I have to make good on this if this outcome happens??

He is a pretty pedestrian rim finisher (in a way that I just kinda don't understand why it isn't impacting his draft stock but that's another conversation), but the worst non-calls with him are when he initiates his drives. EVERYBODY puts two hands on him to re-route him and we get the call like 20% of the time.

Hard to complain too much about a crew that let us Greco-Roman wrestle our way to a critical rebounding edge, but still, this isn't 2006, you're not allowed to push guys on the perimeter like that anymore.

I was actually proud of the way our guys approached this game in regards to rebounding. We played more physical and the results were obvious. The fouls were still kept under control, playing to the officiating, loved it.
I was also amazed at the amount of Illini fans in the crown, outstanding

Love Wagler but just don’t see him excelling in the NBA unless he looks for the 3 ball much more and shows he’s that elite shooter of earlier in the year. He really could use another year of development but you cant pass up a top 10 draft if it’s there for him

During the Purdue Gam he was an excellent finisher.. Wonder what has happened between then and now that affected his finishing drives to the basket??

Idk man, the Big Ten has turned into a “drive to the rim, get 2 free throws” kind of league. I feel refreshed after watching a game where the better team won based on basketball ability, not flopping ability.

Thank Goodness it's only a one day turnaround. That wait leading up to last night was brutal.

Ayo also had a lot of trouble finishing through contact as a freshman. I think its one of those things that scouts view as something that will naturally improve with age/strength/experience.

Tournament only stats.

Illinois now up to #3 overall. #7 on offense. #7 on defense.

#1 on offense? Iowa

That's a little skewed b/c we played in a backyard brawl last night, while they played against one of the softest defensive schemes I have seen in a long time. I like Hoiberg & Nebraska was a great story, but their defense last night was unbelievably bad.

For context — Duke is a 7.5 favorite against St John’s.
I really don't think Duke will beat St. Johns.. they are some scrappy dawgs and Duke isn't

We were very tight i thought with Houston with missed layups and FT...defensive intensity compensated.

Need to loosen up and players need to embrace "We are the best team on the court" and have confidence and swagger.

We got confidence in the 2d half at Houston.(except FTs)..that confidence needs to carry over for 3 more games
