We couldn't even reliably spell "Weber" correctly on our various boards. It’s almost like Illinois Basketball is trolling Loyalty spelling with our rosters!
We went from Battle, Gill, Smith, Anderson, Cook, Brown, Williams, and Head….to
Krupalija, Dosunmu, Bezhanishvili, Humrichous, Stojakovic, Mirkovic, Alltheic’s etc etc

That's because this name is also Eastern European. In Yorkville, he went by Jasonus Jakstys, an exchange student from Lithuania.Everyone seems to struggle with spelling this one: Jakstys!
I have often wondered about how the trajectory of the program would have changed had Kruger stayed.
I think Kruger was a fine coach but not a trajectory changer. Self, on the other hand…I have often wondered about how the trajectory of the program would have changed had Kruger stayed.
he literally changed the trajectory here so I'll have to disagree. he's the one that built that Peoria pipelineI think Kruger was a fine coach but not a trajectory changer. Self, on the other hand…
Totally agree. I felt like Kruger could have won a national championship here if he had stayed. But alas he really never stayed anyplace for an extended period of time.he literally changed the trajectory here so I'll have to disagree. he's the one that built that Peoria pipeline
Just because you’re not paranoid doesn’t mean the world is not out to get you.Conspiracy theories simply don't exist...........except for the indisputable fact that the entire world is in a conspiracy against me personally..........and don't call me paranoid!!!!!
Me think so tooMe think this is a game where the freshmen are going to shine.

Yeah that's a tough one, because Kruger was a great coach but his replacement, Self is the best coach to ever come through Illinois... but also didn't stay very long. So the confluence of factors is tough to assess. If Kruger never takes his shot at NBA, he probably just coaches at Illinois all the way through 2020-21 (when he retired from Coaching). Possible the '05 season never happens, but also likely the 6 straight missed tournaments (or 7 out of 8, or 8 out of 10, depending on how you want to frame it) period of darkness never happens. I think on balance, Illinois probably benefits just from the stability that comes with having same coach all those years. Fun thought experiment.. so many variables to consider.I have often wondered about how the trajectory of the program would have changed had Kruger stayed.
He didn't stay places because he didn't really have what it takes to build recruiting relationships. He got lucky with generational downstate talent. But his classes after that show that he really wasn't interested in recruiting.Totally agree. I felt like Kruger could have won a national championship here if he had stayed. But alas he really never stayed anyplace for an extended period of time.
I loved how hard Krugers teams played.Yeah that's a tough one, because Kruger was a great coach but his replacement, Self is the best coach to ever come through Illinois... but also didn't stay very long.
