Beat MSU and we will most cretainly be ranked again. Then we just need to hold serve at home and split on the road the rest of the season and we'll have a decent season again and will likely finish Top 3 in the B1G and will end up with at least a 4 seed or better in the Tourney.
This sounds so "melodramatic," but it's honestly true ... a swing of 4-5 conference games, especially in early to mid-January, really can transform a season for a team. If we beat MSU, I would at least feel fairly confident in taking the next two at Minnesota and vs. Indiana before hosting Ohio State on a bit of a hot streak. You are all of a sudden looking at 15-5 (6-3) Illini team if we take down OSU that has won six in a row, and then we can start to get greedy again. :ROFLMAO:

Also, one poster mentioned he/she hoped we sold this game out, which would be our sixth straight sellout for a Big Ten home game! I imagine we will, as it looks like there is only limited availability left in C-section. At the very least, it will look packed and should be a good atmosphere!

You just get the feeling this is a monster game for us.
Yup, this is a heavyweight battle. Great players, great coaches, I'm sure our crowd will be lit, B1G basketball is the best.

As an aside, my feelings on B1G expansion are well-documented, but all of Rutgers, Maryland and even Nebraska have tended to offer basketball crowds and environments that belong on the B1G level, certainly when their teams are good. UCLA and USC have a lot to live up to there.

I have to admit, as much a "football school" as we all know Nebraska is, they have some very engaged basketball fans in that place. Been impressive.

At the game Saturday when they pulled up Freddy Mercury, I thought my eardrums were about to burst. I'm all for having a good time and being loud but holy cow.

I'm sure it'll be super loud Friday

Given where we were in our season and that students were gone, the crowd sounded louder on TV than it has since the Iowa win to end last season...

I will be there.
I will be intoxicated.
I will be loud.

I think this is more about our player psyche as anything. We match up well against them. Maybe we even up the tempo a bit and get them out of their game. But in the end we play good D, continue to grow in our execution on the other end, and we win. Now, the team has 3 in a row. That's called a winning streak. Confidence breeds more winning. However, play poorly and... Sort of feels like the swagger and confidence is raising but still maybe a little fragile.

ILL!

We have come to expect being near the top of the Big Ten and regularly ranked … so, as with most of our games for a while, this one is huge.

But this one really does seem especially huge!

This game is important for the Illini to continue to build team-wide consistency and a solid foundation of settling into their roles as individuals and as a group.

The Orange have been all over the map so far this Season in terms of success of play (or lack thereof) and effort. Can’t have that. Play with high energy and focus and stay in that groove. You may not have your shot some nights but you can always play with vigor and game smarts... and as a cohesive unit. (And this is critical later on when the Games and the Lights get even brighter).

Coach has talked about how much he loves this team. But in his quiet moments he has to be puzzled wondering which of his Illini teams this year is going to show up from game to game. This team might be his most puzzling to date.

It’s time to have that Team identity and those player roles and performances you can count on being there. Building trust.

Time to put the Yo-Yo performances away...

Wifey bought tickets in section 102. The tickets say “Traditions Club” on them. Anybody have info on what this entails?

Traditions club is a premium seating option. So you’ll have access to regular concessions, wood n hog bbq as well as a dinner that changes up every game from the U of I(think this one is around $15 a plate maybe $20) also will have liquor and wine options on top of the beer options.

Do I need to know anything special? Covid rules, cash only or no cash, how early should I be if I want to grab dinner 1st? Thanks in advance.

I watched Michigan st last night, not impressed. What terrifies me I re watched our game and Our 3 pt. Defense is still just absolutely Horrible. Thank God Nebby shot horribly, especially in 1st half cuz we left men wide open behind the arc. Please fix Illini men your 2 athletic and talented to be getting lost. On D and leaving shooters wide open.

Juse watched PennState and Lundy and funk go 14 of 22 from 3 pt line. As a team they go 18 of 31. Gotta guard the arc in today's game.

Coleman please take it to the Rim more and punish it. Leave the screaming and flexing at opponents bench in locker room. No stupid technicals. Rj and Coleman attack the rim Men!
