It's a non-issue for us. We have jobs to do. Do your job. My job is going to the game and buy beer. It's a tough job, but I do it anyway. The staff gets it. The kids get it. Josh has more people selling beer more quickly so he gets it. We're in as good a shape as we could hope to be in come first week of November.
This is a great post! Especially these three wonderful sentences.

Its honest work but someone's gotta do it... Which I have also done for 15 years and will do again this weekend rain or shine!

As Robert from Illiniboard has said we are fans not players, we can think as far ahead as we want to.

Yes. There's been many seasons where the team starts 2-4 and plenty of folks on here are saying "we might not win another game this season".

Saturday is a high of 62.

We get a string of 70 degree days Wed-Fri & Mon-Wed but they skip over the weekend.

This year's fall weather has been amazing and I hope it's the norm moving forward.

Number of seats available (71)
116 (Horseshoe): 2
130 (West Main): 1
107 (East Main): 10
109 (East Main): 58

This is assuming it's not the old trick where seats magically start appearing when the number available dips below a certain quota.
I wish we had a board Rain Man who could analyze the seating chart and when certain areas become available to gauge how many tickets we have actually sold! :ROFLMAO: OR, we could just get a report from our inside agent, @BRucks!

I saw someone mentioned there were still a lot of student tickets available, but I actually took the social media post in question to be a good sign. It's effectively saying that tickets are going fast enough that if students don't buy their tickets by Wednesday (today), there is enough demand that they are going to start selling those to everyone else! No matter what, I am guessing we are over 55k right now, which will look like a sellout on TV (unless the rain keeps people away :(). Remember, we sold 55,229 (91%) for this game...

I was just waiting for someone to post about tickets, lol.

Whitman was being deceptive in his little email to Robert when he said 3,000 tickets available to the public. He didn't say 3,000 tickets to a sell-out because they have far more unsold tickets.

They've been playing this game of cat and mouse all season trying to feign low supply thinking that percieved low supply will increase demand, then trickling out new tickets for sale gradually.

Look at the East Main seats which were previously "sold-out" suddenly there are now two entire rows of tickets available at mid-field rows 63 and 64. There are 75 rows in the East Main, that means that they haven't even begun selling tickets for rows 65-75. Same is true for Upper East sections with more rows unsold the further you move towards the end zones.

Not even close to a sell-out this week, just more anti-fan ticket games being played.
Just saw this post now. I thought it was odd one section suddenly had two full rows available in the 60s when there's 75 rows. So we're definitely not 71 tix from a sellout - they're just being deceptive on slowly trickling tix for sale.

I've been tracking the ticket sales for MSU in a spreadsheet for the last two weeks. I've checked the ticket site on average 10-15 times per day and have taken inventory of what seats/rows/sections are listed for sale. I've also noted what seats/rows/sections are not listed for sale.

According to what I've seen, and it depends on the section, but anywhere from 11-20 of the top rows in the East Main stands have not been listed for sale yet. Assuming the unavailable rows are 100% unsold and counting the available tickets, there are approximately 4,252 unsold tickets in the East Main stands. There could be some additional in section 101 depending on what the student ticket overflow situation is. The East Balcony is completely sold out. I've seen tickets in every other section/row come and go. The Horseshoe, West Main, and West Balcony have had some one-off tickets appear, but they are effectively sold out. All told I think there have been at least 56,416 tickets sold (assuming the student tickets sell out...I have no data there).

I guarantee this game looks like a sellout (weather permitting), and as others have said, maybe that is what is most important.

That game was on Thanksgiving, postponed because of the Kennedy assassination. Listened on the radio at my uncles house in Sesser.
Another important game that was played on Thanksgiving was the 2001 Finale vs Northwestern. I've tried for years to find that game on YouTube, but could only find a newsclip.

Two weeks earlier, our game vs sub-.500 Penn St drew 70k. The Thanksgiving finale only drew 45k while we were ranked top-10.

Reports of 70 degree weather, with rain and 45mph wind gusts. Sounds like a first team to 20 kind of game to me.

I'd stay away from the spread because of these elements. Could be a busy day for Chase and (hopefully) McCray.

Illinois a fairly big number north of 28
Spartans 9

(I'm going to keep going with 9 until someone breaks double digits against this Illini D)
We cannot just show up and expect to win just because MSU will be without some players. Play all 4 quarters the way we have been and I can smell another victory. We now have a target on our backs for the rest of the season and nothing comes easy. Go Illini!
