Just because Edey hasn't shown is the aJoker 2.0 draining 3s doesn't mean he can't either. Come on man, if you think Ty attacking with floaters in the kane vs Edey or other biga is whats going to draw them out of the paint and open up, space and take advantage of Coach Painter's scheme then call BU and let him know. Ty needs a 15 to 20 foot average jumper or the threat of one vs that type of D or he needs to sit. I hope he shows it. He'll he hasn't even tried and why do you think not? If he could shoot then BU would allow him to.
Are you saying that he shouldn’t get any tic against a good big? You’re the one who said he couldn’t shoot a jumper. Now you’re wanting a deeper shot. If you don’t like my idea, that’s fine. This is going off the rails quickly.

I'd be happy if Ty took open layups and slowed down around the basket a bit. Obviously a jumper would be nice, but I think that's the thing he works on for next year.
I would be ok with that but he should already be able to do those things now. He has known since early summer what his role was going to be this year. He won't or can't shoot an open jump shot, that's just crazy.

Need to win this to…

1) Keep the positive momentum going.

2) Establish ourselves as clear contenders for the league crown in mid-January. Most teams will have played about 20-25% of their conference games after this weekend, so it’s nice to be near the top.

3) RE-establish the House of ‘Paign as somewhere our Big Ten opponents fear. We were close by the end of 2022 (only home losses were to ranked OSU and in 2 OTs to a top 10 Purdue team … not elite, but quite good), but we took a backslide last year. Getting worked by PSU and Indiana at home stung.

Really hoping a good and - more importantly - ENERGETIC crowd shows up! These guys deserve a home court advantage worthy of a program that’s won more games than any of its conference foes for going on a fifth season!

In early season games, I watched Ty warm-up. He was shooting 10-12 ft. jumpers from the left lane line. Making maybe 50-60~%. However, when he shoots a jumper, he arcs his back forward so his head is in front of his body....a shot easy to block....instead of releasing the ball, as is common at that range, above his head at the zenith of his jump which would make it difficult to block. Not sure if he learned that way, but it the technique makes that weapon pretty useless in B1G or high level competition.

Likely there are several posters who have observed him shooting in warm-ups. He shot a dozen or more that I saw.

I think it will be a very physical game. Prediction?

I just had chance to watch my recording against Purdue. We did a outstanding job of speeding up the game. Edey is not going to beat anyone down the court both ways. He hustles great for a human that darn big.
Boy we got lost on defense assignments.
Dainja was outstanding in his 6 minutes, 😆 🤣.
He grabbed a board, ran floor, and dropped 2 assist. Amazing Dain playing time last 3 or 4 games.
Go get em. Hate the Spartans, fouling fools.
My son's birthday spent a fortune on tickets.

I have watched quite a bit of MSU's games this year, and I am beginning to think that they just might not be as talented as most thought. They have beaten Baylor, full stop. That is the only game this year that they have won against any good team (and no, I do not see Indiana State as one.) Their schedule following the Baylor win was Oakland, Stony Brook, Indiana State, and Penn State (all at home,) so everyone thought they had figured it all out. I just don't see it, and I don't see them beating this Illini squad, nor even come close to covering the spread. As always JMHO, and I guess we will see. I will eat crow if I am wrong, as I often am.

I want him to be able to shoot and make one when teams defend him like Purdue did or he needs to sit in favor of Harmon. If he can't the big clogs the lane because they are ignoring Ty. I don't even see how this is debatable. BU said himself he didn't prepare enough or make the adjustments soon enough to deal with Purdue strategy of Edey on Ty and really just standing in the lane, helping others, and leaving Ty unguarded since he struggle or won't shoot.

I feel like I should be worried about this game, but I'm not?

We win because we're better than they are. And just as motivated. And our coach is taller than their coach.

Does Izzo have someone on staff who's likely to take the reins whenever he retires?
The way this season is going, I could see him hanging it up soon. He seems angrier than usual, even when he's not on the sidelines.

Seems to be a trend. Saban, Belichek..

Izzo seems to be in that mold.

Saban's for a much different reason though, but Belichek's a decent comparison.

I've gotta think the controversy and drama that's consumed MSU for the last 5 years has to have taken a toll on Izzo.

I bought a ticket in Section 11 on StubHub as it was a great deal, but didn’t realize until now it’s the Orange Krush and I’ll be the embarrassing 32-year-old in the student section.

What do I need to know?
The students don’t start class until Monday. It’s a really fun place to watch the game, between the scorer’s table and the MSU bench. You’ll be able to get an up close view of Izzo’s red face and hear his swearing (Hopefully). We sat there twice so far. Record the game, for sure. You’ll be on TV a ton so make sure you don’t pick your nose! Also wear orange (and the Chief if you own anything with him on it)! Cheer loud for Illini Nation…

Stand up as much as possible so that everyone else around you has to do it too. Feel no shame in that even though people might complain, you are there to make noise not sit quietly and passively watch.

Illinois' win vs FAU doesn't look as impressive.

Losses to Purdue, Tennessee and Marquette all took a hit with losses this week.

I think Illinois is the better team and wins tonight.
