Lol. I will exclude the other start times like 7:30 pm to keep it that classic BTN/FS1 dichotomy of being the "early game" or the "late game," and I can only go back a few years ... but here you go! :ROFLMAO:

2023-24
6:00 pm: 1-0 (W at OSU)
8:00 pm: 2-0 (W vs. NU, W vs. MSU, L at NU)

2022-23
6:00 pm: 3-1 (W vs. OSU, W vs. UNL, L at PSU, W vs. Michigan)
8:00 pm: 4-1 (L at NU, W at UNL, W vs. MSU, W vs. Minnesota, W vs. NU)

2021-22
6:00 pm: 5-2 (W at Iowa, W at Minnesota, L at UMD, W vs. MSU, L at RU, W vs. PSU, W vs. Iowa)
8:00 pm: 2-2 (W vs. Michigan, W vs. Wisconsin, L at Purdue, L vs. OSU)

So not sure I really see a trend or whatever, but it is kind of concerning that in the last couple years, we seem to play worse in these big weekend games?
impressive, thanks ! i just thought we had much poorer performance at 6, ok, back to work

I had the same thought. I'm not sure what happened, but he's been a shell of his early season self for a few weeks now. I initially thought he aggravated his wrist injury again, but he seems to be shooting okay. He mostly seems....out of rhythm with the rest of the team. Passing up shots, missing defensive assignments etc.
Maybe having a child takes a larger mental toll than many thought. Your head and mind are no longer 100% basketball. Plus you’re tired all the time

I will be listening on the radio feed to the dulcet tones of Brian B. and Deon or Doug A. as the Illini take on the cowardly lambs from up north.............Peacock is only lowering the viewship of the Illini BB & FB games and I refuse to pay for it .......JMHO.......

The transfer from TN is their main threat , with their big center also a lowered threat in the paint.......without duggie , their main ballhandler is the transfer last year from Princeton , who was injured for a large part of the season......He is very suspect as their main dribbler , with somewhat weak handles and mediocre speed with the ball.......

Ty should soundly eat his lunch easily and take him low on offense for some nice buckets around the rim.....

One of the posters above stated about scUM's relapse in the early to middles stages of the second half..........I agree as I have replayed 4-5 of there B$G games and they are prone to wearing down around that time of the game......

The player I'm worried about is the Cheddar cheese dude , who is hitting over 50 % of his 3's , albeit in a reduced amount of shots......

Another thing the Illini can count on is a coaching snafu by Mr. coward that will hamper scUM's performance.......he is woefully inadequate as a coach , even moreso after his latest health scare.......I would wager that his health issues might make him resign this off season or be the alibi for him to avoid being fired..........I hope he overcome's his health issues , but I must stress he will never overcome his coaching issues............

I imagine their record this year and the embarrassing displays of immaturity by Mr. coward in the past will lead the ad min at scUM to a decision of looking for a new coach........I really really do..................

you had me at "If we are in a dogfight late ..."

agree 100% w/ this,

BTW - you surely have some time this afternoon to come up with our 6pm vs 8pm w/l splits 'home/away/total' 'weeknite B10' - last 8-10 years???

just wondering, feels like 6pm not as good
I laughed way too hard at this, figuring complete non-sensical request. Yet, he came through!

I do not disagree but I am a bit worried that scUM may be able to keep TSJ in check and keep things close if they have a graduate assisstant running the defensive schemes that plagiarizes the Izzo technique of running 2 guys at TSJ to contain his drives.

The only trend I would say you can find from this is the obvious one where it's just harder to win on the road. One thing that is good to see is that for the most part the team has taken care of business against teams they should beat in these matchups. Every loss except for one was to a team that made the NCAA tournament.

The only loss that would be considered bad is at Maryland in 2022, but Kofi did not play in that one because of a concussion and for whatever reason we just always struggle with Maryland no matter how good or bad they are.

I know we always make such a big deal about the next/upcoming game as if the season hangs on the brink ... but I really do believe beating Michigan handily is essential for this team to gain any sort of momentum as we enter mid-February. If you were to act as an apologist, you could quite easily explain away some of our recent "worrying" performances and/or stretches during the games since TSJ returned:

W 86-63 vs. Rutgers ... Sure, it was closer than it should have been for a while, but it was our first game reintegrating Shannon and in the end, we pulled away.
L 96-91 in OT at Northwestern ... Did we give up SO many chances to win? Sure. However, it's still an OT loss on the road vs. a good team that beat #1 Purdue earlier that year. In short, it is the type of loss you just try to move on from.
W 70-62 vs. Indiana ... With hindsight, this one should have worried me more. But we beat a rival by "winning ugly" on a day where things just were not clicking. We gutted it out, and that is what good teams do ... right??
W 87-75 at Ohio State ... This is actually legitimately some of the best basketball we have played lately.
W 87-84 in OT vs. Nebraska ... Should we beat Nebraska (who is awful on the road) by more than 3 points and in regulation? Especially when we looked like we had them put away?? YES. However, you can easily say they shot out of their minds, gave us their A+ effort/all that they had and we STILL gutted out the win.
L 88-80 at Michigan State ... Even though the way we lost was really concerning, it is still a Quad 1 loss on the road vs. a preseason top 5 team that desperately needed that win. Like I said earlier, you COULD explain it away and maintain a rosy outlook.

But vs. Michigan at home without McDaniel? If we are in a dogfight late and making our fans sweat this one, it is for NO other reason than we have some very serious issues that are going to cut this season well short of our goals. Period. There is absolutely no way around it ... if you are a top 25 team in our position right now, this has ALL the makings of a "get right" game. If we cannot beat them by double digits, I will start to get really scared that we are looking at a slightly improved version of last year's team's March prospects. If we lose ... shoot, man, we are cooked.

So let's go out and pound them!!
I’ll accept nothing less than a 10 point win. Unless weird circumstances occur. But 10 points should be the bar. No messing around.

If I were on the coaching staff, I would put out a challenge to the guys like - they aren’t scoring 60 points on us. No way in hell.

Our offense will take care of itself, but if we hold them to <60 then a big win is basically in the bag.

Can they keep 5 guys interested in the game for longer than 25 minutes? Thier track record suggests.... no.

Need a good old fashioned drubbing tonight. We’ve mostly played just okay since TJ is back…2 losses which were understandable but both were very winnable. Time to put it all together for a stretch run. Honestly will be upset if we give up 70 points or more. And no letting them hang around. Step on their throat early and give DGL, Nico and Dain some run.

Speaking of backgrounds....I believe I have discovered the problem with our MSU loss. If any of you have the LED back lighting on your TV's, some allow you to change the color. (first world needs :ROFLMAO: )

I enjoy having the background color orange during Illini games. Unfortunately, the Stars hockey was on one hour prior to our MSU game, and I consequently forgot to change from the green back to orange for the Illini game. So I didn't notice it was...green...for the entire MSU game.

My apologies to Illini Nation for this glitch in our Matrix. It will be corrected this evening.:illinois:
