Went back and watched highlights from last years game at Minnesota here's a few thoughts. Both teams have a lot of the same players back. We seemed to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. We sacked Tanner Morgan 6 times! He also threw 2 picks and had a QBR of 25.3 which is terrible. Chase ran for 147 and that's with Tony Petersen calling plays. We win this game with a turnover or two, running the ball, and playing solid defense.....
They get Ibrahim back, won't have to rely exclusively on Tanner

It's hard to sell 30-35k single game tickets every week.
Let‘s be honest the DIA had zero intention of selling those tickets. Their pricing scheme strategically guaranteed it.

The Seating Map link on the ticket site shows 5 non-student tiers. They blew that away and instituted essentially flat pricing for all seats. My assumption is they did that to prevent fans from buying the cheaper seats and either:
1. Shuffling down to the empty better seats
2. Enforcing fans sit in assigned locations but having bad optics around the empty seats near field

If you’re afraid of selling $15 east balcony seats because the $75 main stands seats will remain unsold - well, the $15 east balcony seats aren't the problem.

We dominated a very similar Minnesota team last year, at their place. Our defense is being shown zero respect in this game by the Las Vegas oddsmakers. After we shut down Ibrahim, people are going to take notice, and realize that this defense is more than Elite. Devito will be out there tomorrow. This is his last year, and he's tough as nails.

Illini 23
Minnesota 6

The ticketing website shows only about 5K available seats, mostly in the horseshoe. Why are we giving estimates of 40K or 4K for tomorrow's game?

They play games with what seats are released for purchase. Notice the 2 far ends in the West balcony are sold out yet the sections between the 30's still have a few seats available. They held these back during the 24/24 sale so they could get $85 (or nothing) for them. Lots of seats under the East Main overhang and East Main balcony will not be available for purchase even though they are unsold. It is what it is and I won't complain about the $24 tickets I bought.

I think it’s because a lot of tickets aren’t listed for sale yet. For example, if you see unsold tickets in rows 15-20, and none in rows 21-30 it’s because 21-30 aren't listed for sale.

edit: @fuddrules beat me to it

They should really consider doing what they did on the West Side of the stadium.

A number of Suites remain unsold. 77 Club - sold out. Colonnades Club still has availability. So that premium seating $$ is not all that hot of a ticket. If you add more on the East side, it dilutes what is already on the West side. That's why quite a few stadium rehab projects around the country have reduced capacity vs. expanding. They don't want to make it an easy ticket.

Maybe at some point a rehab will include an economy premium on the East side ;) Like the airlines do with economy plus. I'm not paying 2.5k/ticket for the Colonnades but I'd consider 1k/ticket for some form of economy premium.

Really hope we never see the gray unis ever again.
Fashion always comes back around again eventually, but I can't imagine that being anywhere on the horizon.

It was a fun one-off that made sense at that moment and then well overstayed its welcome.

I really hope they nail it with the uni refresh next year. The stars seem aligned to make that happen.

My Dad and I sat in the Colonnades Club a couple years for a game and it was actually quite nice especially since it was a cold and kind of a wet day if I remember! They serve food and drinks up there and a really good place to just sit and relax before the game. Understand what your saying though, it is very pricey!

I don't understand why so many of you are shocked and complaining about attendance.

Let's do a quick recap:
*The only thing we have been consistent at over the past 30 years is losing
*If you are attending an 11AM game and live in the big metros in Illinois, you will likely need to LEAVE around 8 or 9AM which means getting up around 7AM on a Saturday
*There is an entire thread on here bemoaning the in-stadium experience: issues with wifi, concessions, and even trying to get into the stadium itself
*Given the product over the last 10 years, you have multiple classes of students where football has been a complete afterthought, basically creating an entire generation of students that are apathetic when it comes to Illinois football
*Because of how poor the team has played over time, we have likely failed to attract a good share of non-affiliated fans, i.e fans that have no direct ties to the school

I love this school and I ride and die with these teams as many of you on here do. But some of you need to realize that until this team can win and win CONSISTENTLY it's going to be a struggle to get the fans to show up

Agreed but hiring Bret Bielema was the first step in the right direction. Even though he struggled at Arkansas, I strongly believe he learned his lesson from it. He is still a really good coach and knows the Big Ten landscape and what it takes to recruit in this conference. He will get the program to new heights somehow or someway. Just a matter of time.

Good! I can't wait for our defense to give Ibrahim a proper welcome back to Big Ten play tomorrow. They made the Badger's juggernaut beast of a running back a total non factor not too long ago (despite the Badger's OL being way bigger than our defense as well) . Walters will have our boys ready to make his life a living hell.

Just don't turn the freaking ball over and limit stupid penalties and I see Illini 21 rowboating rodents 10 .
