My thoughts on misery......................

Beating misery starts and stops with containing Sean East II..........He is their engine per se , with the ability to score at all 3 levels....His 3 pt shooting has improved a lot......he has always been a driver to the rim and now he is looking to pass the ball back out when stopped on the drive......He is prone to foul trouble if the game is called tight.....sometimes he gets out of control if the opponents D is good enough to frustrate him in what he wants to do.......

Nick Honor is a fireplug in size but a good shooter from anywhere inside the center court line.......I have seen him make 30 footers and then have 2-3 airballs because he doesn't always get his footwork set right......he will drive the paint and get out of control and make bad passes as he jumps when contained and can have his passes picked off......plays ok defense and also is prone to foul trouble........

Noah Carter is a forward who wants to be a guard.....he loves to shoot 3's and will make about 1 out of 4 , but has been hot unless you guard him........defense is sub standard...............

Tamar Bates is an ex loosier with a BIG MOUTH and an average game....can make a 3 but doesn't do any else that stands out other than trash talking.....I look for him to try to start something to incite our team with his all star mouth.....his defense is easily exploited as he gets lost in the defensive end.......

Connor Vanover wears # 75 for a reason as he is 7'5" and a Bill Walton look a like.............But that's where the comparison ends as he has a 2" vertical and can be pushed around due to his skinny frame.....they have been increasing their alley oops to him when the guard is stopped in penetration but he can be contained inside our defensive scheme....JMHO

Aiden Shaw is a slim 6'8" frosh who plays hard , but not very smart......goes over the back on most rebound attempts and spends more time in foul trouble on the bench than on the court , at least in the 3-4 games I have watched.....has plenty of potential but now plays out of control like a bull in a china shop..........

Anthony Robinson II is a 6'2" frosh with plenty of defensive skills....he is adept with getting steals and heavy defensive pressure....how much he impact's the game will depend on how the game is called.....he is another misery player prone to foul trouble but he can be a force for them on D.............

I haven't seen enough of their games to comment on the remaining roster but those I listed above get the majority of playing time.........

My assessment of the upcoming game is they have no one who can contain TSJ and Domask.....if we continue our high FT % then I see a 10-15 point advantage and a win for the beloved.......if the game is called where they can hack and crowd the vertical of our team then it will be a pick'em type game......... players on each team will play with an intensity higher than a regular season game.....

This is always a nip and tuck game usually and I expect another game in that vein.....with that being said I think the game will be..........................................

JMHO and LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bravo Pru,great breakdown of Mizzou roster.Brad likened Mizzou's defensive style to his S.F. Austin teams,overplay passing lanes making it hard to run sets.They play physical,with a lot of fouling.Agree that officiating could be key.Would like to see us punish Mizzou's press also.ILL

Upon sitting down for a dose of Loyalty espresso I found my brother's post concerning our night of horror a year ago. At one point, one of the late-middle-aged dudes hitting on his friend's 20-year-old daughter turned to us after glancing at the screen. He obviously knew of the Illini victories earlier in December over UCLA and Texas. He saw the score on the TV (we were down at that point by more than 20) and asked us "What's wrong with you guys tonight?" We could have asked him the same thing.

Anyway, since it's too early for a bracing dose of bourbon to dull the unpleasant memory of that bar and that game a year ago, I offer this as a pre-Miznoz, Monday-morning palate cleanser:

Our crew was on the Illini sideline behind Rayvonte as he hit that buzzer beater shot in 2014! That was one of my top five most memorably fun games I’ve ever attended. The Illini crowd went wild! Let’s get another ‘W,’ and beat Mizznoz on Friday!

T-Rank has us as 6.5 point favorites in this one… we were 11 point favorites to Colgate, winning by 17 definitely helped us move up in NET and on their site.

A no-doubter where we win by 15+ will really elevate our advanced metrics that are super important. Hovering around the top 10 in everything will really really be great for us going into selection Sunday.

Win. Just win. I am GD tired of being little brother in this rivalry. They may steal our lunch money in football, but we must be in control of the basketball rivalry.
I'm with you. Time to start another streak reminiscent of the '80s and '00s. Kinda shocking that apparently the last time we were ranked and won the game was in 2005. I'll take another 2021 please.

Little brother, you say?

I would instead argue that the Illini own the tiggers, (somewhat similar to Kofi owning Hunter Dickerson).

The Illini have won:

* 33 of 53, overall (62%)

* 25 of the last 40 (62%)

* 15 of the last 23 (65%)

Plus, we've had winning streaks in the rivalry of 9 in a row, 8 in a row ----- and then 5 in a row most recently.

Yes, and Michigan has 10 national championships from 70+ years ago. Our dominance in the 2000s is not relevant for the current state of the rivalry. The fact that we are 1-4 against them since Ayo arrived on campus and the program finally turned around is embarrassing. As the programs stand right now, they own us. And that has to change.

Agree… Or 59… that would be just fine with me.

LOL can't find a suitable gif but reminded me of Madagascar 2 when the lion misinterprets 6-9 months as 69 months... 69 MONTHS????

(sorry, I have kids)

Actually, what happened last year isn't all that relevant. Aiden Shaw is their only starter who was on the team last year and he played four minutes against us and had no stats.
