Be remindful that the last time they played, SLU beat ILL at the dome. If you live in StL, you do care about SLU.

Last game between SLU/UI--11/20/98

I loved seeing a bunch of the old players especially Dee!

Thanks to the poster who put NSCALE on the right track. This is an ILLINI board. If you can't be respectful, we have a few posters who don't mind serving you some salt!

If you live (and grew up) in stl, chances are you aren't an illini fan anyway. I don't see how that's relevant.

I live close to stl, i live in the stl tv/media market. I do not care about a mediocre A10 school with no football program. I still contend that most illini fans feel the same, as well as most Mizzou fans in the stl metro area.

I'm not buying that it'll be close because it's a rivalry game. It's been close in the past couple years, despite poor attendance by Mizzou fans, for the same reasons we almost lost to Chicago State. We are notorious for playing down to our opponents. If we play like we have the past few games, it'll be a blow out. If this team is for real, it should not be a close game. And this team needs to be for real heading into B1G play. No more excuses to play soft. I don't expect this to be a close game but the team has surprised us all many times. Beat Mizzou, and move on to big boy college basketball.

I think you are extremely underestimating the power of a rivalry game. Especially at a neutral site. Yes we play down to our opponents sometimes, but we also blow our opponents out by 20+ a lot too. There is a reason that rarely happens in this game.

We haven't blown out many top 200 teams by 20+ in recent years. We don't have a win like that this season and only had one last season against Minny in the B1G tournament. We have played down to our opponent many more times than we have blown out inferior teams. Chicago State, Winthrop, North Florida, UIC, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky.. just a few examples.

I would agree with you on the power of a rivalry game if Mizzou fans represented even a 1/4 of those in attendance but they haven't in the last couple of years. It was still a great atmosphere on our end, but booze helps.
