Exactly. Their center will be an interesting match-up, if Illinois plays them.Good thing we can score 100 then
Don’t forget the 1949 Final Four team led by Bill Erickson and Dike Eddleman which came in third by beating Minnesota with Bud Grant after losing to Kentucky…Since the start of seeding in the NCAA, Illinois has underperformed its seed 17 times, and over performed its seed twice, a 5 v 4 and a 9 v 8 “upset”. We’ve lost in 1 v 2 matchups, 1 v 3 matchups, 1 v 8 matchups , 3 v 14, 5 v 12, 6 v 14, another 5 v 12, 3 v 6, and FIVE TIMES we have lost the when we were the 4 playing the 5. It probably has some thing to do with that. And the fact that most of the fans watching the 1951, 1952 Final Four teams are no longer with us.
I am old enough to remember that their was a 3rd place game. I have not looked it up, but I believe it was discontinued sometime in the 1960's.Don’t forget the 1949 Final Four team led by Bill Erickson and Dike Eddleman which came in third by beating Minnesota with Bud Grant…

Many saying same thing about uconn getting hosed....Am I the only one that feels we got absolutely hosed on this draw? Iowa State is a top 5 team, UConn is the best team in the country, BYU is ranked higher than Illinois in NET rankings, and Auburn is better than most of the 2 seeds. Absolutely brutal and so typical for IL. Smh
I was way off on that. Thank you.Last played in 1981.
I was just told 1981.No it was later than that..late 70s or early eighties when they cut them
Selection show analyst picked Samford upset...Kansas sucks way more on the road than at home but they are the most over rated team in the tourney. Period.
No...not everyone. I posted earlier that this is likely the best possible draw. Opponents are good enough that not a single Illini player should feel comfortable and should be ready to fight like banshees...much as they did in the second half of every B1G tournament game....but maybe from the tipoff now? I especially like that their first round opponent has a highly respected player that should get everyone's immediate attention. That BYU beat Kansas in Lawrence should give them plenty of motivation.Everyone’s seems pissed about the bracket we’re in. Let’s win the first two games and get to second weekend. Then I’ll worry about the bracket. I. N. I
In the 1940's and maybe earlier into the 1950's, the NIT was almost as prestigious as the NCAA. As a matter of fact sometime during this era, Kentucky's Adolph Rupp turned down a NCAA bid and went to the NIT with a team that was considered one of the top teams in the nation. In 1963, for example, I believe the tournament had a field of 16. I do not believe the tournament was seeded until it was expanded. Teams in the East played teams in the East. Teams in the West played teams in the West, etc.Noted. There just don’t seem to be seedings for ‘49, ‘51, ‘52 and ‘63 (when we lost to the eventual National Champion Loyola Ramblers).
Good thing for Bill Self that Samford doesn't begin with a B LOLSelection show analyst picked Samford upset...
How, pray tell, could they kick you off a plane mid-flight?I watched our first round game in ‘22 vs Chattanooga on a plane and almost got kicked off . That ending was too much to watch surrounded by a plane full of people.
Hulu has it, but it’s hard to find and doesn’t have much. We had to do a search just for the channel, and the channel itself is really primitive.
Who are they going to get to call the game?
No, you’re not wrong. These guys, our leaders, know that this is it for them. Regardless of where their future leads them, and no matter how much they anticipate it, something they love will come to an end, and they’re not quite ready for that. This is their last opportunity. That’s their motivation.No...not everyone. I posted earlier that this is likely the best possible draw. There is simply no team that the Illini cannot beat when they come to play, shoot with confidence, and defend to the death. I think they like playing together and for BU and will not let this season end soon.
Or I could be wrong.
As long as their center doesn't get the calls Edey does, I'm confident we can at least get him in foul trouble on the drive.Exactly. Their center will be an interesting match-up, if Illinois plays them.
It’s a little easier if you’re in a BoeingHow, pray tell, could they kick you off a flight mid-flight?
