A big improvement, but a tad disappointing nonetheless.
Weather is going to be 82 and sunshine. 2:30 kickoff and lots of interest in the Lovie Smith era. I predict there will be a 5,000 ticket walk up.
That's over a 20% increase from Kent State! I'm not sure about how much better Bill Murray fans travel. I'm sure that makes up part of the difference.
45k will be more than any home opener since the Zooker's last season 45,154 announced against Arkansas State. With two days to go and walk ups on game day, I'm guessing they'll announce attendance of 51k. I was hoping for 44k.
Just called the cable company to get the B1G network, let's get to Saturday already

Agree. 50,000 was my absolute minimum guess given the "Lovie effect". And now we're going to have ideal weather on top of that.
Really hoping we can knock on the door of 60,000 for UNC. Idealistically, I have my eyes on something like back-to-back shutouts in order to get the national media to pay attention.
As I re-read.....I may be a little too pumped up for 2016 Illini football!

BTN has multiple channels for football games. At least on Directtv, not sure about other providers.
Yes, will likely be on the overflow channel for most folks as the PSU game will be on the main channel.

I can't remember, does BTN re-broadcast FB games later on the main channel like they've done for hoops? I also seem to recall a "Big Ten Game in 60 minutes" edit that they did at one point.
Edit--I found my answer--the main (hi-def) BTN channel will rebroadcast the Murray State game at 3:00 AM Eastern on 9/4, and the "BTN Football in 60" is on the schedule, but my cable listings don't say which game is on at what time.

So excited about this season! I've been a stalker of this board for years! I've been here relentlessly even through all the mediocre (at best) recruiting the last decade and the struggles in the win/loss column. That rally speech from Whitman was absolutely awesome! If that doesn't get you fired up for the season opener I don't know what will. Got my tickets for the first 2 games. Go ILLINI!
