I agree. I have a lot of orange and only one blue hoodie. Any weather reports.

I had to buy a new blue hoodie because all my stuff is orange

I'm sorry, but I don't think athletes playing a game they love ever have thoughts like that during game action, JMHO.
you telling me you’ve never seen an athlete make a “business decision” when playing a game they love? lol

It will be chilly. High in low-50s that day.

I felt they changed it to a Blue Out because most people are the opposite--they have blue sweatshirts and coats. If you look at past crowded games in November, the crowds are noticeably less orange.
I’m seeing 43 degrees from 7-11pm. Not too windy though, NNW at 5 mph, so 40 deg wind chill.

Very true!

We’ll have plenty of bright orange in the lighting displays, on the ribbon boards, and on the main scoreboard. Scattered red folks will be swallowed up like little dots in the sea of deep blue.

I'm not sure about this Blue Out idea for Friday night. Hopefully we can pull it off and it will look cool, but it's going to pain me to not wear Illini orange at the game. Blue just doesn't "pop" the way orange, or even white, does. IMO...

I like that they paired it with a night game. Similar to how some schools do a blackout for a big night game.

I think any color looks cool as long as you have the fan buy in. Plus it helps that our blue unis/helmets are very sharp. Start the tradition now and you never know, maybe 10 years from now everyone is looking forward to the Blue Out game.

You know those annoying fans who just refuse to not sport their navy and gray shirts to an “Orange Out” game? Well, their spiritual counterparts will do 20x the damage if they wear orange on Friday, lol. If over 10-15% of Illini fans neglect to wear navy, I really fear that they (combined with whatever red presence is brought by Nebraska fans) will tank this thing given how loudly the lighter color will pop against the navy under the lights.

Wear navy, team!

My parents are coming to visit (their granddaughter more than anything) but Im excited my dad will get the double dip of basketball and football. He hasn't been to a game in either the BB or BU era so it should be a good time.

Or wear black. Anything but orange please.

Why do I fear that this is going to make the place look empty? But I will be there (in blue).

I'm not a fan of the idea of the "blue out" (at the very least, could we call it something else?), but will be interesting to see. I can appreciate doing it against a red team, and I can appreciate doing something different, but I just don't think it will work. Like others have alluded to, any smattering of orange in the crowd will be very noticeable. Any red in the crowd will be very noticeable, and it would have disappeared in a sea of orange. Anyway, I hope I'm wrong and it looks cooler than I'm thinking it will. Either way, I don't care if our fanbase collectively decides to wear neon pink, as long as we can secure a bowl bid.

I know it's a Friday but a bit surprised this isn't a sellout. If we took one of Duke or Purdue I think it would be.
Friday games just are not working out at Illinois. I think a big part is how far so many fans have to travel to make it and how late the game finishes. Combine that with $500/night hotel rooms, and people are just not willing to do it. Then toss in 40 degree weather at kickoff, and the crowd is going to be pretty sparse tomorrow. It's unfortunate, but we would have to be 7-1 and ranked to be pulling in a sellout.

I think Friday P4 games are lame. Let the non-AQ conferences have their time during the week. The games are actually really good lately.

If it was up to me we it would be Saturdays and moving rivalry games away from Thanksgiving weekend.
