I’m traveling with two Huskers, so if you see a dude in a #50 jersey with a mullet and two enemies you’ve found me! Should be down on green street in a few hours bar hopping!

The big stadium in Lincoln is known as The Sea of Red... which it is on game day because that’s all the field of play is surrounded by. Red... red... and lots of it.

In glory days, Husker fans were known to take over opponent’s stadiums and turn them also in a Sea of Red. In fact, there was a Husker game at Notre Dame a few years back when the South Bend program was lagging and Husker fans dominated the Golden Dome home. More Husker fans than ND fans.

Traveling Husker fans have dipped some with the poor fortunes of the team over the last 25 years. But They still love and support their Huskers even in lean years.

Champaign needs to be a Sea of Orange on game days. Then we can start to work on everywhere else.

I'm pretty sure Illinois has laid eggs in front of the previous two largest crowds of recent times (MSU last year and UNC under lovie)

This Illinois team is more indicative of where the program is than last years. It appears that Coach Lovie was recruiting better than some thought. Those recruits became men with decent success and NFL careers ahead of them. There was just not enough of them. As the first teamers went to the NFL, the next in line were not ready or able to take overs right away. First and foremost, the offensive line needs rebuilt. This may take a couple of years. There is hope in the back field, but work needs done on the lines both offensive and defensive. To get year after year success means recruit, recruit, and recruit some more. I like the emphasis on Illinois kids. I do not think the competition likes the UI emphasizing Illinois. First the more ILL. kids that get pulled in then that hampers the recruiting pool of Iowa, Wisc. Minn. Mich. Purdue, Indiana, Michigan St., ND. and who knows who else. ILL needs more than their fair share of ILL. kids. BB is on the right track going in this direction. Sustainability will happen I think when this is taken care of.

It's a windy day here in Central Illinois. Hope we can get the run game going early for once because it's going to be tough on the passing and kicking games.

“Correlation does not imply causation."

However, the Illini do need to play better before big crowds. USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington will soon be coming to town.

Big Ten games now being seen on Fox, NBC, ABC... and all the other usual and new streams. More and more attention coming to all Big Ten sports programs. More viewers, bigger games, more pressure, more chances to excel... in other words... FUN.

The sun in the Eastern sky is not the only Orange thing that will be rising. So will the one in the Prairie State.

The Illini are 0-10 lifetime in Friday night games. No one, and I mean no one, beats us 11 times in a row on Friday nights.

Illini 10
Nebraska 9

Nail-biter game. Low scoring with high winds and COLD. The Bears did their part for Dick Butkus last night, now it's the Illini's turn.

LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm weirdly confident we win this one? Think we'll see some necessary adjustments on both sides of the ball, plus Nebraska seems to have an even bigger foot-shootin' gun than we do.

It'll be ugly but:
Illini 24 - 19 Huskers

I try to make the trip once a year for a game. This was the one I've been planning on attending. Last week really made me consider not driving 3 hours each way, but I'm still going. PLEASE don't make me regret it!
Dress warm.
