I know Nate Mast, and a bunch of local Amish people named Mast. Which is Nebraska's Mast from?

What are you looking at? Mast is 6’10
EDIT: Our official site lists them all as F's so maybe that's what he means. But we definitely have centers.

Yeah, we have 4 dudes 6'9+

Starters:
Mast 6'10
Berke 6'10

Bench:
Leo Curtis (Frosh might play a few minutes) 7'2"
Ugnius Jaruševičius (Nickname: Oogie, probably won't play) 6'11

Jared Garcia (Probably 1st off the bench for Mast) 6'8

I think we rebound pretty well defensively, we just don't commit much to the offensive boards instead get back on defense.
Appreciate you stopping by, and we’ll root for you when you are not playing us. Illini fans have more hate in our hearts than we probably should for teams like Iowa, Indiana and Missouri … that does not extend to Nebrasketball, whom we still have to thank for their amazing upset in Madison that gave us a Big Ten championship in 2022!

Your two starting bigs: We have a little length but both your guys bring a tough game. Mass will get his points…such a finisher and a threat from the arc!
I like the mismatches we present with our back court. We will hunting those! Could be a big day for AS and Waggs.

Yeah, Nebraska doesn't officially call them centers, which to me is representative of how the team views them as players. Berke plays a more center-like role so they could probably give him F/C if they wanted like Zvonimir, but he's got too many tools and a bit too quick on his feet to be a true center. And Mast has those qualities even more.

Going small for us is going 6'9" and below, which is probably not the traditional going small. I suspect Mast can run circles around the Ivisic brothers, and they'd do marginally better against Berke. It might be something we just accept if our offense is cooking, but if we're getting cooked by Mast I suspect that's the defensive adjustment we make.

I don’t see Illinois losing any games this year to teams of similar athleticism, especially at home. I see IL winning by 10-15.

Yes beating Creighton by 20 and Wisconsin by 30 in back to back games is impressive but I believe in the reversion to the mean.

Nebraska is 1-13 in their first conference road games of each season since joining the Big 10.

2011: @Ohio State (71-40) Loss
2012: @Ohio State (70-44) Loss
2013: @Iowa (67-57) Loss
2014: @Iowa (70-59) Loss
2015: @Iowa (77-66) Loss
2016: @Indiana (87-83) Win
2017: @Michigan State (86-57) Loss
2018: @Minnesota (85-78) Loss
2019: @Indiana (96-90) Loss
2020: @Wisconsin (67-53) Loss
2021: @Indiana (68-55) Loss
2022: @Indiana (81-65) Loss
2023: @Minnesota (76-65) Loss
2024: @Michigan State (89-52) Loss
2025: @Illinois

Wait, what? No.
Idk Nebraska has been good about putting together a fun cast of characters. In 2023-2024 the only time I wasn’t rooting for Keisei Tominaga is when we were playing them. This team feels like they have the same electricity. I could never bring myself to sit down on a random weeknight when Illinois isn’t playing and root for Michigan, or Purdue, or Iowa, or indiana, but I can’t say the same for Nebrasketball

I don't want to quibble with our excellent social media team, but they didn't simply both score 20+ in their BT debuts. They scored 20+ ON THE ROAD in their BT debuts. Let's not hide their lights under a bushel.

Does anyone know who the last pair were to do it? I just went through all of the box scores of B1G teams from the 08-09 & 09-10 seasons to try and find it, but couldn't.

This is the main reason I'm optimistic about this one. We definitely won't be doubling, even if Mast is killing us down low. Our philosophy is to make him work for it and hopefully if he puts some points up its inefficient.

I'm hoping the Ivisic twins can use their length to slow him down, especially Big Z. I also think we will try to attack Mast offensively. Either get him in foul trouble or at least wear him down.
Think it will be a healthy mix of those 2 + Ben. Ben has been a great defender as of late.

I didn't look up the box scores but I see the 09-10 team had freshman DJ Richardson, BPaul, Griffey, and Bertrand so my guess is the first two.

Although the 10-11 team had Jereme Richmond and Meyers so possibly them?

Nope I checked, and it’s out of all B1G teams not just Illinois… I initially thought the same, that it had to be Paul and DJ

Oh and your 2nd post: hmm maybe? But it said 16 years so that year would be < 16? Now I have to go double check anyhow

Edit: nope wasn’t them either… this is gonna bother me now lol
