Paddock played well against a good Iowa defense. I am not sure what his completion percentage would have been if you take away drops on good throws. It could be his last college game. Paddock understands how to get the ball out quickly and make good reads

I think Luke is a good qb but he is still adjusting to the speed of college. I don’t think Luke is going anywhere because if he transfers he has to sit a year
I agree 100%. Outside of the fumble resulting in a safety, Paddock was solid today. He makes good decisions and gets the ball out quickly.

Luke will be a good player in time, but he holds the ball too long. With our o-line, that is a recipe for disaster against a team like Iowa.

It's too bad Paddock is not a threat to run like luke is because 1 dimensional qbs get figured out. I hope we start Luke against NW unless there is a problem we don't know about. If he struggles call in Paddock. There is a lot on the line in this one.

We could win or we could lose. I don't agree with the folks talking like there's some "especially Illinois" phenomenon where we lose big games. Let me clarify - I do believe that it feels that way, just not that that's anything other than random chance plus a history of mediocre football. We lose a lot of games, some of them are occasionally big, and those are the most memorable. When your average season for the past 3 decades has been like, 3.8 wins, the losses to miss out on 6-6 stand out so much.

I think we have every chance to win and should be 3-5 point favorites (maybe? total guess). Would love to see this team go bowling and set a new standard that our "step back" season is still a bowl season.

Purdue had over 300 yds rushing today and 450 total yds. Not a good time for our RB room to be so scant. Northwestern only had 11 first downs.

My biggest concern going into this game is that, in each of the last five games, we’ve controlled the tempo and the scoreboard, only to allow a late go-ahead or game-tying 4th quarter touchdown by our opponent. Once is happenstance, twice is a coincidence and three times is a trend. What is five? An established pattern, I guess.

That we’ve won three of those five games is nothing short of astounding.

We have the worst defense I've ever seen in high leverage situations. If we "need a stop" bet on us not getting it. 3rd and 8 with the game on the line? Give up a pass right over the middle for 10 yards or let a non running QB run for a first because we only rushed 3.

I'm not blaming the "D" for yesterday's loss.

Overall, I thought we played a very good game against a 9-2 team with a Top 5 defense, nationally. Everything came down to that "One Big 4th Quarter Play" we all knew was coming. Iowa made it.

They also have one of the worst offenses in the conference yet still dominated the ball possession time. I'd would grade our defense as mediocre yesterday.

I think it all comes down to Depth. The guys out there on defense are playing heavy snaps without much in the way of rest and just get worn down at the end of the game.

Yep this also what I think.
Hopefully the offense can get a big lead prior to the 4th quarter on Sat.

That’s been their mode all year. Dominate possession time, kick great punts to pin opponents, defense smothers drives quickly until turnovers and/or a worn out opposing defense eventually lets them score. Their offense can hang onto the ball for a long time, but seldom extend drives far enough to get into the end zone.

I’m no expert but from what I see in both pro and college ball, close games always lead to riskier up-tempo efforts by both teams in the last half of the 4th quarter. One of them always loses, but we’ve emerged as the winner in many close games this year.

I know BB likes to be a run first team. However Lunney seems to be a pass first play caller. He calls runs when the D leaves the box play caller

We don’t have a dominant back. But we have 2 qbs who can throw and 3-4 decent WRs. I would like more of an air raid offense
