It’s a good thing the game wasn’t in the afternoon because it’s an absolute whiteout right now. Winds gusting to 35+ and snow depth already 6+ inches. WCIA says over a foot has fallen just west of Springfield. I think judging by the radar it might be out of here by game time though.

Why don't they play this game at Soldier Field like how UGA and GT played it at Mercedes
A different angle here is that UGA and GT are non-conference foes (and this is the first time they are trying neutral site...may go back to old format in future). It is very rare for any school to willingly give up a conference home game every other year. The only one that has a long history (that I can think of) is Oklahoma and Texas.

Northwestern has a brand new facility, so they will not give up a home game. For us to play at Soldier Field in our "home year" would require Illinois to handle all the logistics of making it happen. Also, we should not be in the business of readily giving up home games.

The greater issue is the timing of the game. It is baffling that we still have post Thanksgiving conference games. If this game is a week or two sooner, turnout would be much larger in Champaign.

I agree with your points. I think Florida and Georgia play each other in Jacksonville every year. I think that’s another of the rare examples.

Probably going to be almost no pass plays if its like it is now. Receiving punts just get the hell out of the way and let it go wherever 🤣

This needs to be a barge game with offemsive line full tilt boogie . Imagine tough , but not impossible passing today.

I understand not driving but beyond that it seems like we are treating this like we're Alabama fans.
It was pretty rough on neil street at noon. Only saw 1 car in the ditch at that point. At least 3 inches in my driveway around 1. It's coming down heavier now than this morning afaict.

I'm just hoping my snowblower starts.

Primarily going to be who can run and who best stops the run. Turnovers, muffed punts, and who can make field goals could determine a defensive deadlock if neither can establish a running game.
Based on OL line play have to favor NW in this one unless they turn it over alot
