After the game tomorrow let’s revisit. And I might take you up that. I love my Illini but Mano can take him out for the remainder of the season.

We win tomorrow we are still be a tournament team. How we win tomorrow will depend on if I take that bet. lol 😂

You’re all forgetting this is a business now. Riley is gone unless he gets more minutes. You heard it here first. Humrichous over Riley is stupid. Underwood is thinking booty ball. Not with this group

Let’s play def tomorrow. Can’t let Martini just booty ball his way into the lane.

Seems extremely high. Similar to how I felt going into the Maryland game (with the spread)... Not so sure about -8.5

Anything is a bit harsh. Booth can fill some roles more effectively as needed. He is taller, longer, more experienced, 215lb not 185, should be able to defend the post players much more effectively than Will at 6'8" 185. Morez can only guard one guy out of NWs 3 physical guys. Riley will likely play more but I hope it's Ben, Davis, White or Booth not WR trying to stop Barnhizer or Martenelli. Will gives up way to much to begin to try and stop those two inside.
Now if we are going to load up on offense and let those 2 NW stars go off then your line up may be in play
I trust WR to cover Martenelli more than I trust Booth to guard anyone on Northwestern.
Will at least brings something to the table on offense as a counter.
Booth, it could be an equipment manager shooting those 3's.

I think Tomi and the effectiveness he brought from the top of the circle were appreciated but not appreciated enough. I love MJ to death but the offense loses a ton of versatility without the passing and shooting threat out of that spot, and it particularly hurts KJ and Boswell out of that pick and roll/pop. And he is 7'2 so a legit post threat.
I'm honestly intrigued to see how Brad approaches this game X's and O's wise.

The guy we got told was a sniper from 3 isn't much of a sniper ...

1-9 against NW in a loss ... 1-5 against Wisconsin ... 4-7 against Oregon ... 1-5 against Washington ... 5-9 against Penn State ... 3-8 against USC ... 1-3 against IU ... 1-3 against MSU ... and 0-3 against Maryland ...

17-52 from 3 in Big Ten play ... 33% ... With 9 of those 17 coming in the 2 games we would've won if he made 0 ...

Numbers never lie ... So here are some more numbers ... Will Riley has scored in double figures in exactly 2 Big Ten games ... That is unacceptable ... Boswell with back-to-back games with 5 turnovers which also makes 4 out of the last 5 games he has had 5+ turnovers ... That is flat out unacceptable ...

Another interesting number ... We have won every game this year in Big Ten play besides USC when Tre White has scored in double figures ... Only other loss when Tre White has scored double figures ?? Tennessee ...

I will end my post with this ... Unacceptable ...

Get Ben some FT’s and they’re basically the same. I like Luke fine but Ben can be the man if he wants to.

I expect Ben. White then Davis on Martineli and WR on Berry, White primarily on Barnhizer.then WR as needed on Barnhizer. WR gives up 40 lbs lbs to Martineli who uses thar weight and banging to get shots. That's not a match up that favors Will in that end if the floor as much as some others.

I've had friends with similar experience. I've also had friends who recovered quickly. All we can do is hope Tomi has that second experience.

Let's just hope we win the damn game and move on. A tough road game is lurking next, although we've been pretty successful on the road.

If I remember correctly I believe Barnhizer killed us in the second half of the last game taking advantage of our drop coverage and scoring at will around the free throw line ….just maybe my memory is off.

Blasphemy time. What if we play zone most or all of the time and concentrate on our offense to bring it home?

Northwestern hasn’t beaten Illinois in Champaign since January 2013, which was Groce’s first season.

Last year with Shannon out, Illinois beat NW 96-66.

I think the line is right. I can’t see Northwestern being in this game. Our guys should come out fired up. Although a Sunday afternoon is usually a recipe for a sleep walk game

IIRC NW targeted Ben pretty mercilessly at their place, have to think that is the plan again. My one issue with Brad (far outweighed by positives generally) is an inability to adapt once a team finds something to exploit.

Really hoping, Tomi notwithstanding, we have something ready to counter that isolation ball where they hunt Ben on switches.

So why was ivisic sitting on the bench against Maryland?
