Coaches see these kids in practice every single day. They know exactly what's on their bench.

Did anyone else notice the difference between DD and CH in sealing their defenders to get post entry pass? It seemed like DD was very good, and was able to receive it most of the time. CH not so much. That would be an area that CH could really improve this team. On BooB, I wonder if he has played a team that switches as often as the Illini? Who would gain the advantage with that? I am assuming it would be the Illini D, but I'm not great in figuring out advantages/disadvantages in different situations.
BooB. That made me chuckle.

Dain is very good at sealing/getting position. I honestly think he'd get more time if he was better defensively. He has some lapses on that end of the floor that probably cost him PT.

Is there an Illinois Loyalty group that meets in South Charlotte NC?

Like many teams we play this year our lineup has a lot more size (they have a 7'0 and the next tallest starter is 6'6) Our shortest starter is 6'6!

We need to outrebound them by 10-15 and we can win comfortably. This will start with Quincy and Ty

The best way to manage this NW team is to keep them in 1on1 sets. They are a solid passing team and will look to move the ball. Get in passing lanes and cut off driving lanes and it will make it tough for NW to score. Boo Buie is going to score and get his but if we can limit his assists and try to keep him out of the lane (he can still shoot it well but that's an area I would live with compared to him driving right by the defenders consistently)

Overall Illinois needs to come out with a ton of energy on the defensive side of the ball and help build a lead through defense. As we have seen in games such as FAU we are really hard to come back on once we gain a lead.

Prediction: Illinois - 78
Northwestern -65

2023 vs 2024

Quincy >> Mathew -- team player, plays defense, better rebounder
Marcus > RJ --- RJ lost ability to shoot in 2023, Marcus great inside, but lacking on 3's, Marcus helping on ball handling
Justin > Skyy --- quicker, better scorer/rebounder at this point in career
Ty - nice improvement in FT, strong rebounding
Luke - dnp till late 2023. Still waiting for him to break out. Postive just to have him
---
Coleman --- more consistent. Lets see if he can continue improved 3 pt shooting
Dain - looks same. I was hoping for more weight loss so he could block more shots and guard out on floor
---
TSJ --- better mid range scorer and defender in 2024 - not sure we will see him in O&B again
Sencire - redshirt
Epps - transfer

Overall due to chemistry and ability to switch 5 players on defense (unless Dain is in game) I think we are better team.

Of course having TSJ would take us to elite level. Hoping for some kind of criminal court miracle that will get him back. First time offender diversion program?

I tend to be a Dain skeptic (although I really do enjoy his footwork and touch around the rim), but he did have a really nice skip pass to the weakside corner for a Coleman 3 when he was doubled last game. Was good to see.
He made several passes out of the post but his primary weakness is on the defensive end.

We usually go out to eat off campus before games, but with students off campus was thinking of trying Legends or Murphy's. It's been ages since we've gone to either, trying to remember if it's OK to bring kids to dinner at either?
