Oakland was picked to finish 4th in the Horizon League preseason poll. Milwaukee and Purdue Fort Wayne were picked as co-favorites with Northern Kentucky picked to finish 3rd.
Alabama is the next game after this so it's important they don't overlook Oakland. Some old Illini teams would have these early-season pitfalls but I trust Brad.

I may not have a degree in Mathematics but I am pretty certain that 44 is more than 40.

My guess is 19th ranked.
Boise State was also picked as the preseason favorite in the Mountain West. Rest of the top 4 in predicted finish was New Mexico, Nevada, and San Diego State.

You are about 5-6 spots too high at best. Illinois was ranked 26 in AP poll this week. No way they are jumping 6 spots beating a pair of cupcakes. I think Illini will be 24 or 25 in best case scenario. Still a chance they stay around 26, especially if Arizona Srate pulls off upset over Gonzaga. Ohio State probably jumps Illinois as well.
Yeah, but did anyone 20-25 lose? Even one loss in that bracket should move us into the top 25. And if 2-3 of those teams lost I could see us at 20 give or take a spot.

There were 3 losses from teams 16-25 (#16 Arkansas, #19 Texas, and #22 UCLA). I think Illinois could be #25, but Ohio State likely jumps Illinois with their win over Texas.
Tough to see a large jump for Illinois.
We look like a top 25 team, not worried about polls. BU teams always get better, minus one that had poor chemistry.
I disagree 40+ means 41 to infinity. I have a degree in making unimportant points.
I like our team but I went to ole miss game and we didn't look like top 25 then, but there have been a lot of film sessions in the last couple weeks luckily.
Not worried about rankings this early in season....just steady improvement on chemistry and confidence. Need "swagger" by January conference schedule start.
