This team presents the worst matchup out of any B1G team for Illinois. Size, size, size.

I think we can win this one. Everyone had this pencilled in as a loss, but I like our chances here better than I did the first 3 games. Just hope the MSU loss didn't destroy the team's morale.

No offense, but what interior defense displayed by Finke and Morgan has lead you to believe that Hammons, Haas, and Swanigan won't put up 50 points between them? Without Thorne and Black we are in a tough spot in this game.

Can we just mark it as a loss, avoid further injuries, and move to the next game?

Oh well, Go Illini!

Those guys are gonna put up lots of points on us. Doesn't mean we can't beat them from the outside, where I think we have the advantage.

I was at the Purdont Wisky game and Hammond &Dolph Lundgren just camped down low and were force fed by their guards and abused the Badgers...foresee the same approach on Sunday. Could be just as ugly as tonight...

Not expecting much from this game. Just hope we can compete, keep it close and have a respectable showing. Then, after a week off, hopefully we can put a win streak together against some of the weaker big ten teams and get rolling. Would be nice to see thorne and/or black in uniform for that run too

KenPom has us with a 17% chance of winning and an estimated 10 pt margin of defeat. Even with Nunn back I can't be that optimistic. I'll go with PU 79 UI 58. It's going to be a long, long night.

We need to crank up the pressure on Purdue's guards, that's how Iowa was able to come back and beat them. No way we'll be able to stop their front line, so you have to try and disrupt the perimeter and make it difficult to get the ball to those big guys.

This is the best strategy, but we just don't have the fouls to give. We saw what happened last night when MH had to sit after 2 early fouls.

This. I was watching the bench last night, and we had 4 players dressed on the bench. Bring KN back, and we'll have 10 . . .not enough fouls to keep pace with a long Purdon't team with twin towers. Hammond has only been playing 21-22 mpg, and is still averaging 14+ppg . . . telling, since Painter feels he has enough arrows in his quiver not to use one of the nation's top big men . . because he doesn't have to.

Well, I suggest we don't foul, then. :D

We do have some fouls to give on the perimeter, which is where I'm suggesting the pressure be applied. Hill will be inside leaning on Hammons/Swanigan/Drago, trying not to be knocked over.

Not sure how this game will go but I predict at least one starter will be a last minute scratch due to either the rickets or scurvy.

At this point I thinks it is just improve the young guys as much as possible, then ease in the injured guys, then get everyone in sync and have a somewhat positive result in the Big Ten Tourney. Tbh I wouldn't want to be the team that plays us at full strength in the first round.

Although they definitely have a size advantage down low, this isn't so much the problem. It's really just our crappy interior defense. In terms of size, we actually match up with them as good as anyone else because even with our depleted front court we can start two 6'10" guys at the 4/5.

At least one of the two evil henchman is gone. No longer will we have to fear the sinister scheming of dr. Jonathan Octeus and his evil sidekick professor basil smotherman

Do we just try to pack in a zone and take away the post make them beat us from 3?? The 3 ball has to go in less than them having 7 footers drop it in the basket all game right?

Well, one would think, but this year the trend for opponents is to shoot above their season average from 3 against Illinois.
